How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5803461 / WH23X10030 Drain Pump

I called into Appliance Parts Pro and related my issue. Per their advice, I ordered a drain pump for my washer for $48.00 which was very easy to install. The washer is now running again! I saved at least $200 by fixing it myself. I am very pleased with this company and this is the 2nd time I have done a DIY fix it job using Appliance Parts Pro, and I am NOT a handy man! Thank you! 

After receiving the new pump I realized that it was larger than the original (which is good because the original appears to have burned out). The pump was still able to fit into the space provided and the electrical connection fit perfectly. 

Replaced pump 

Checked online repair videos and determined a new drain pump may be needed. After checking the old motor and drain hoses for any clogs(there were none), went ahead and ordered a new drain pump.The new pump was delivered in 2 days(cost about $50). Installation was quick. Ran machine through a wash cycle, and the drain cycle worked perfectly! Problem occurred when it would not proceed to the spin cycle,but instead, returned to the rinse and drain cycle...Arg! After manually setting the machine to spin for a couple of loads, the machine must have corrected itself??, and now runs through all cycles correctly. I'm feeling very lucky after attempting and succeeding in this DIY repair. Saved the cost of a repair service call,or worse, a new machine. 

I had to repair a previous "appliance repairman" fix. They obviously didn't order thier parts from AppliancePartPros.com. They had radiator hose clamps tightening down the hoses on the wrong size pump inlet and outlet. So THANKS to AppliancePartsPros.com I am no longer in the dog house! I ordered parts on Thursday at 12 and were at my door Saturday by 3! 

AppliancePartsPros had the problem areas for my washer model. I clicked on the appropriate one and viewed the comments, solutions and install videos. The videos are great! Not knowing which part might be bad, I purchased the recommend solution parts. The first two solved the problem and I returned the unneeded third part through the simple returns process. The returns process did ask a question about the part model and serial number which was not on the box and would not let me go forward without the info. I opened the box carefully and type in some numbers off the part. No idea if they were model/serial, but I typed them in order and the returns process accepted them. I didn't like opening the box to find the #s, but it was easily resealed with no damage. 

First got my model number off the unit. Used YouTube to see what it could be and to troubleshoot the problem. Got on Appliance Parts Pros like I have done several times because you can trust getting the correct part. Got the drain pump in a few days and only took 30 min to fix and get my washer back up and running. Thank You Appliance Parts Pros. 

Thanks to this site, I was able to remove the panel and replace the pump. It wasn't quite as easy as the video made it look though - we spent almost two hours trying to get the front panel off, till we figured out that you push in to get the tabs to release not up! Replacing the pump itself was pretty easy except that its a good thing we had two people working on it because it really required three hands to hold open the hose clamp, stretch the drain hose towards the front of the machine, and attach the hose to the pump. But we did it! and miracle of all miracles, when we tested our work there was no flood of water coming from the bottom of the machine! Tools needed: Pliers (for holding open the hose clamps), putty knives (for opening the front panel), Socket set and driver (for removing and replacing bolts holding pump in place) Timing: For most people this would be a 20-30 minute job. It took us a lot longer because we had a lot of trouble even opening the machine. Once we did it probably took 10 minutes to remove the old pump and 20 minutes to install the new one. 

I replaced the old pump with new. 

Well. Once I determined the problem wasn't a wayward sock in the pump, I again turned to Appliance Parts Pro to get what I needed. When the new pump arrived at my house in the usual, NEXT DAY time frame (for standard shipping price), I grabbed a couple of tools, drained the washer, took old the old pump, installed the new pump and WALLAH! The job was finished and everyone is happy again. It took longer to drain the washer tub than it took to install the pump. And, the folks at AppliancePartsPro.Com did another GREAT JOB of getting me what I needed with an EXCELLENT PRICE in an EXTREMELY TIMELY fashion. BIG THANKS to them.
