How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5953771 / WB21X22134 Oven Temperature Sensor Assembly

Heat sensor 

Replaced Oven sensor in back upper of oven. Easy repair…. 

I got a new sensor and replaced it. there was a video on line. first time ever I removed the door. I did not know that it would come off. the oven came on it came up to temperature again, my oven thermometer agreed with it, the temperature was right. I have nor flopped anything since. 

Replaced temperature sensor. 

Replaced temperature sensor. Oven still stops saying preheat when it is well below actual preheat temp, but given enough time, the oven keeps heating until it hits the correct temperature. I am now ordering an external device with a temperature probe that goes into the oven to continue to troubleshoot. I might have to buy more parts to completely solve the slow heating and temperature display issue. Part I bought from AppliancePartsPros was the correct part and shipping was FAST. 

Reset error and tried running oven couple times. Was using 490 degree oven set point to cook a pizza. Reduced oven temperature set point to try and finish pizza cook time. Able to get thru the cooking of the pizza. Waited until next day. Measured resistance of temperature sensor (1070 Ohms). Checked over control board and did not see any obvious issues. Ordered a new temperature sensor. Measured resistance (1078-1081 Ohms) on new sensor. Installed new sensor. So far oven fine, but haven't cooked a pizza or any bread baking yet. Time will tell. 

I started to notice oven was intermittently heating up. Some days it reach desired temperature and sometimes would not heat up at all. After reading similar stories I decided the problem could be one of two part failures. The igniter assembly or the heat sensor arm. I ordered both. The ordering process was painless and the parts showed up the next day. After watching video on how to replace and a few turns of the nut driver the oven was up and running perfectly thirty minutes later! My wife hates this site because she wants new Appliances but appliance pros make it too easy to fix them yourself!
