For Ge Oven Temperature Sensor Assembly (Part Number: OEM17861322)

Jim for Model Number JB735SP5SS

The oven temp seems to be varying quite a bit and causes uneven cooking issues. No error codes present. I was going to change the temp sensor being it is relatively cheap and easy access but I am troubled by something. When bake is turned on, the relay in the control panel cycles on and off quite a bit during the pre heat cycle. To me that doesn't seem correct. I would assume it should turn on and then when up to temp turn off and then start cycling to hold the set temp. The issue is this is my brothers oven so I am not sure how it performed when new. Does the relay opening and closing a lot when in pre bake seem normal? If not, would that be an element short or control board issue? It does heat just not correctly. Appears as though the heating element is accessed from the left side for testing. Thank you!

Hello Jim, thanks for reaching out to AppliancePartsPros.com It is normal for the relays to cycle during preheat. Most electric ranges, including this one, cycle between bake and broil during preheat to allow the unit to preheat faster and more efficiently.

Hello Michaels, and thank you for your question. If the convection fan motor WB26T10033 is operating properly, the convection element WB44T10054 would need to be tested for resistance after unplugging the range power cord. The convection element should measure around 23 Ohms. However, if the fan motor is not operating properly, but it receives 120 Volts AC when a convection bake is set, the motor has failed. Unfortunately, the convection motor has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Paul for Model Number JBP35DM1WW

I have the above GE range mfr 6/2008. 12/2023 I replaced the range oven sensor with a GE part because it not appear to be coming up to the proper temperature and it has been fine since then. Last night I baked something at 385 for an hour and turned the oven off. It seemed to cool down OK but last evening it was beeping an F2 error code. Per instructions in the original booklet I turned off the power at the circuit breaker for 3-4 minutes and it has been fine so far. I turned it on this morning and it came up to temperature OK that I checked with an oven thermometer and then I turned it off without any problems or error messages. The sensor appears to be OK on inspection. Do you recommend I replace it, could it be something else or should I just let it go and see if it recurs?

Hello Paul, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. I would monitor the unit and see if the issue continues. If it does you can check the resistance on that temp senor, which should read about 1.08k to 1.1k ohms at room temp. If that sensor is good, I'd suspect something with the main control [WB27X45466] or a wiring/connection issue.

Jeffery L, Start by checking the cooling fans and hi-limit stats, also check the installation for proper airflow for the cooling fan.

Ann, the oven sensor OEM23815086 would need to be tested for resistance and it should measure around 1100 Ohms. If it does not measure around 1100 Ohms, or if it measures open/infinite, the sensor would need to be replaced. If it does measure around 1100 Ohms, the oven control OEM28841282 would be the most likely cause of failure.

Charles, while the error code can be cleared by pressing and holding buttons 3, 1, and 0 then pressing 8 and 6, the code will reappear and cause the beeping once the control identifies the failure again. Aside from this, turning the power supply off would stop the beeping.

John F, Based on the information provided the oven cavity temperature has exceeded 615°f with the door unlocked. Check the oven sensor for proper resistance. Check the wiring to the relays. Check the airflow. Replace or repair as needed.

Risa, According to the tech sheet for your model, the F350 Error will be a cooling fan speed fault. This means that if the cooling fan is requested to be on but the speed falls below 200 RPM for 30 seconds it will trigger this fault. The possible cause would be either the cooling fan is faulty or some type of obstruction of the cooling fan.
