How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2044921 / WH1X2754 Timer Knob Assembly

After I ordered the water level switch and hose I checked with the tenant and was told that he had to shut off the water at the wall to stop the fill (shutting off the washer didn't shut off the water). From this I concluded that I needed to replace the water fill valve. Once I had the parts I went ahead and changed both the fill valve and the water level switch, although I did not bother to replace the tube, just blew through it to confirm that it wasn't plugged. The most time consuming part of the repair was running the machine through both cycles to confirm that the parts replacements fixed the problem.

Thanks to this excellent website, the fix was a no brainer. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find a replacement part, but I found it in 2 minutes here.

I didn't. Jeff, my guy did within a couple of minutes. I believe he put the knob into the marker disc and then put the clip at the base. He had to get the old clip off, then he attached the new set of parts he had put together. 

I ordered a new timer knob from Appliance Parts Pros. The knob came with a clip and shipment was quick. I watched a video showing how to start the replacement of the knob. I used a pliers to pull out the timer shaft. With the information the replacement process was fairly easy and short. 

THE REPLACEMENT KNOB DID THE TRICK. SHIPPING WAS A LITTLE MUCH, BUT I GRITTED MY TEETH AND TOOK THE PLUNGE.
