How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5805478 / WE04X20416 Timer

I had to remove four screws on the back panel, pop out the panel forward, remove the old timer and wires. Then, I had to insert new timer, plug in wires, and put panel and screws back. I used several YouTube videos for reference before I began. 

Bought a new timer and a new knob. 

Replaced with a new timer and knob from AppliancePartsPros.com. I followed the online video and it works perfectly. Took the advice from another review and bought the knob too. 

The old timer was ruined by me using needle nose pliers to use it. I know, bad. But installing the new timer was a cinch! I was able to switch it out in under 5 mins. And was able to vacuum up all the dust bunnies while back there. 

The timer and resister did the trick. The knob was a bonus as the old one had a broken ‘socket’ which wouldn’t always grab and spin the post on the timer. The resistor was a just-in-case easy replacement that could also cause cycle timing issues. Works like a charm and the timer is smooth as silk rather than harsh and clunky like the old, broken one. 

I replaced the controller (Timer). The timer order was promised to me in 10 days, but it arrived the next day. I installed it very quickly and it was a perfect replacement. No modification was required. 

This was a very easy repair. It simply required a Phillips screwdriver to pull off the top back portion of the dryer, remove the timer and replace it. Everything is well marked as far as where to put the wires, but I did take a picture with my phone for reference before I disconnected everything. 

Replaced it with a new one. 

Did some investigation to determine what the problem to my issue would be, watch videos on AppliancePartsPros.com, and purchased the correct part. Had my HANDYMAN help me when I wasn't sure. He's a helpful handyman (Teacher) 

We're not very good at repairing things ourselves, but we were pretty sure that the timer was the problem. We watched the video (before we bought the part) and it seemed like something we could do. We reviewed that video, then replaced the part.
