How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5805478 / WE04X20416 Timer

Placed order for parts at noon time on Friday February 19, order was delivered the next day about 10:00 AM. Removed 3 screws to access the controls, removed the wires from old timer one at a time and placed them on the new timer. 

Replaced it 

Replaced the timer. 1. Unplug dryer and removed 6 Phillips screws from rear of panel and removed panel 2. Remove knob 3. Bend metal tab on timer so the timer could be twisted counter clockwise 4. Install new timer 5. remove wires - one by one from old timer and put on new timer 6. replace back panel and knob 

Ordered an new dryer timer and knob 

Pulled out the broken, one and and just followed the coloring code on the old one, and matched the wires. But what was a lot of help was the video that was shown on the Appliance parts web site. Did save plenty of money doing it myself. 

We ordered a replacement timer. It came the next day. We were back in service at no time. Thanks so much for your quick service. Accurate parts and easy to install instructions. 

Replaced the part! It took under 15 min. Unplug dryer. Remove the two screws on the cover, and that one holds the timer in place. Rotate the timer out and remove the wires (one at a time, so you know which one goes where) from the old timer (use pliers to get a grip) and place it on the new. They are slide fit so very easy. Put everything back and now we have a functioning knob again! 

The timer dial was replaced through Appliance Parts Pros.com. The replacement part was available with instructions. Customer is satisfied! 

I ordered a new timer and a new knob on-line. I was pleasantly surprised to find the parts on my porch the very next day ! First--I unplugged my dryer from the electrical outlet and then with a Phillips head screw driver-----I unscrewed the top part of my dryer to expose the area behind the control knobs. Using needle nose pliers -I disconnected the wires from the old timer, removed it, positioned the new timer in it's place and reconnected the wires to their proper ( and labeled ) places. I reassembled my dryer top with my Phillips screw driver. Replaced the knob and have been happily doing laundry ever since ! 

When I entered the dryer's serial number in the search field all the parts came up and even had a video on how to install. I ordered the parts on a Friday and by Saturday afternoon they arrived. It took longer to clean behind the dryer and reattach the vent than it took to install the part. My husband was happy he didn't have to do a thing.
