How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2619506 / WE4M271 Dryer Timer Control

Replaced timer, cleaned out exhaust and lint collectors. It's running again."Nuff said! 

After watching the instructional video, the replacement process was pretty simple and straight forward. That made the entire process go smoothly. Delivery of ordered parts was extremely prompt. 

Searched for timer by part #, then dryer model #. No match, but in viewing video of timer replacement on this web site, found timer that visually matched ours. Ordered on Sunday, had part Tuesday noon, installed an dryer running 15 minutes after part arrived! 

I replaced both the timer and the knob, I purchase both parts on Appliancepartspros.com and received them the next day. I was able to watch the video and it showed me step by step what to do. It was very accurate and helpful, I was able to do it completely by myself. This saved me having to get an appliance company out which would have taken a week probably and then they would of charged me a fortune to do a very easy 10 min job. I loved that I was able to accomplish the repair myself it gave me a great feeling! I think everyone should look on the internet before calling anyone for repair or work on their appliances. Fixing a bad timer was a snap. First unplug dryer then pull off the knob, remove three screws on top pull control panel forward unplug old bad timer one wire at a time and plugging into new timer. Pop out old bad timer with screw driver and sliding out then install new one same way. Easy.

I replaced the timer. Took all of 15 minutes 10 of which were spent looking for the cabinet screws. I did make a mistake when ordering the new timer; Our dryer has a "wrinkle care" cycle. The timer I bought does not have that option. So I just taped the connector and told my wife not to use the wrinkle care feature. I did not realize that all the timers did not have the same features.. So my advice is to talk to an Appliance Pros representative to find out if the part you are buying has all the options your old part has.
