How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5632405 / WE4M527 Dryer Timer Control

Checked all connectuons for conductivity. Replaced timer and it worked! 

Ordered and installed new timer. Received it in less than 36 hours. 

Replaced timer. 

I bought a new timer and replacement knob. So easy to install and works like brand new 

Replaced new parts with the new one, swapping one wire at the time. 

Changed timer 

Ordered new one. Put it in. Walla, no problem. 

REPLACED DRIER TIMER 

The control knob broke off the timer control switch on my GE clothes dryer and we had to use a pliers to operate the unit until I was able to get a replacement knob. By the time I located a replacement knob the shaft on the control switch was worn down too much to accommodate the new knob so I had to replace the whole switch. The entire replacement took less than ten minutes. After disconnecting the power (pulling the plug) I removed the back plate (six Philip's head screws) and snapped a photo of the wires connected to the control switch just in case I lost track of which wire went where. I then removed the original switch from its mount by raising the release tab and turning it counter clockwise until it popped off. I then moved the wires one at a time from the old switch to the new one. I had to use a needle nose pliers to get each wire off of the original switch because I couldn't get a grip with my fat fingers. Once the wires were all moved I popped the new switch into place with a clockwise rotation, replaced the back panel and pushed the new knob onto the switch shaft (it just presses into place once you line it up correctly) I think t took me longer to type this than it did to complete the repair. 

Unplug the unit. Remove he three screws along the top back of the control panel and set them aside. Locate the timer, and carefully twist the body to remove the metal stays from the inserts on the control panel. Carefully remove each wire form the old switch and connect it to the new switch one-by-one, following the lettered codes on each terminal. When all wires have been installed on the new switch, install the switch using the metal tabs onto the backside of the control panel.
