How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP5780508 / WE4M533 Dryer Timer Control Assembly

New timer and new knob. Looked easy, but watched the AppliancePartsPros video just to confirm. Picked up the tip to take a picture of the wiring, so I wouldn't mess up wiring the new part. 

Easy peasy 

My Dad checked it out and determined the problem was the timer as the knob was cracked and spinning on the shaft. The timer wouldn't turn at all, even with pliers. 

Easily ordered the part from Appliance Pros, watched the YouTube video on how to remove the old and install the new. So easy! Happy to have a functioning switch again. Ruth

I put the new one in. It wasn't as snug as the old one but I made my own adjustments.

I online chatted with someone from customer service to ensure I was getting the correct part, and then I followed the instructions from the video online - super simple and took maybe 5 minutes to replace something that had been driving me crazy for months. I purchased new timer switch and knob. Removed old one by following instructions on appliance part pros site. They have great instructions along with help in ordering correct parts. 

I watched a video on replacing a timer on an electric dryer, googled replacement parts for same, found Appliance Parts Pros. Entered the model, make, serial number and other information required, and their application came up with the suggested parts I would need to make to successful repair. The repair worked just as the video suggested and the parts suggested by Appliance Parts Pros fit like a glove and worked properly as new. 

Repairman wanted almost 300.00 to fix my dryer. I ordered the part for 75.00 and fixed it myself. I have never fixed an appliance before! It took me 15 minutes! One of the easiest things I've ever done.
