How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3994678 / WD12X10230 Upper Dishrack Stud And Roller Assembly

Finding the replacement parts for my dishwasher was quick and painless. Just use the model number and parts would come up with the diagram and some of the videos. Important to read the Q/A as it helped me to get ready on what I had to do and what tools to have. Ordered replacement parts for my GE dishwasher (about 7 years old). To replace the guide rail brackets, I removed the screws that secured the dishwasher to the counter and pulled out the dishwasher about 1/3 of the depth to have access to the outer sides to remove the screws that are holding the guide rail brackets in place. Note: I advise you use the wrench / socket driver on the crew heads rather then screwdriver. Original screws were rusty and one of them snapped but since I was disposing the old brackets it was ok, just had to look for a similar screws to use. Please take your time whilst installing the brackets as the rubber washers may fall out, so don't rush it. All brackets removal and installation 20min. Upper dishrack roller replacement was a snap off/snap in 1min. Overall repair took about 35 min as I had to look for a replacement to the brocket screw. (wish the parts would come with the new screws). Anyway, I'm pleased with the parts and work and looking forward to another 7years on this machine :))) Thank you AppiancePartsPros!!!!! You've saved me from calling the service company and saved me money. Will look for parts here again. 

Popped the old one off snapped the new one in. very easy 

I needed 2 stud and rollers on one side and 3 rollers assemblies (the part with the 2 wheels). I had to slide the dishwasher out to replace the roller assemblies, Don’t forget to remove the O rings from the old wheels! Taking the end caps off of the arm wasn’t that easy and needed to use a screwdriver. Watching the video is a must! Parts came faster than promised but regular shipping cost was high. 

Received the needed parts quickly and used the video provided by AppliancePartsPros.com and found it very helpful. It made the repair easy. Thank you 

I watched the video then replaced the wheels 

I replaced all of the rack rollers (snap off/snap on) and the upper rack rail rollers. Only the rail rollers required a screwdriver. The new part didn’t include the gaskets where it screws into the side, so I used a toothpick to pop out the gaskets from the old parts. Easy easy easy fix. Racks are rolling smoothly again. 

Pulled off the old ones and snapped on the new ones. 

Followed the YouTube directions, I ordered 8 replacement wheels, only 7 were delivered 

I am so glad for AppliancePartsPros.com. Breaking the upper rack arm, which was basically stuck and I tried too hard to remove it and broke it. I almost thought I had to buy a complete new upper rack. Enter AppliancePartsPros.com - found the upper arm assembly. [During my successful 'cleaning', I also noticed the wheels were not freely spinning, so I ordered replacement rollers for both the top and bottom rack] I was VERY careful installing the arm assembly. [no directions, just took my time] and aligned the ridges and nubs etc together before twisting. Ran the dishwasher in test mode, upper rack is usable again!! Very pleased. Had to strong arm the wheels a bit.... All the parts FIT the dishwasher [it's not THAT old 8 yrs but not made anymore...] as advertised. Will be back!!
