James T King George , VA October 31, 2015 Complete disintegration of the inner tub mounting hub Presumably from just the "right" combination of detergent and water (we have well water), I had a complete disintegration and separation of the Inner Tub Mounting Hub. It was running a load of towels at the time and sounded like we had come under attack. Simply pulling up the agitator quickly revealed the extent of the problem. A couple of quick YouTube searches, 5 minutes looking for the right parts, and a simple ordering of the known/suspect/better replace it while I have apart parts, and I was on my way to a simple fix! The longest part of the whole ordeal was my wife and taking the opportunity to clean all the gunk off of the various parts - and wonder how in the world was it that our clothes were being "cleaned" in all that?! Disclaimer: I work in the maintenance field and have an extensive amount of tools, so this made the job beyond simple for me. David G Arlington , TX January 09, 2016 Loud noise during the washing cycle Ordered the bearing seal and washer from here. Great customer service and super fast shipping! Took the washer completely apart with the help of the videos on here. Turn out to be the bearing on the transmission. I went to lowes and grabbed a can of 3 in 1 lubrication. Sprayed the bearing and put everything back together along with the new parts I had ordered. The washing mashing is now working better then new! Paul T Menasha , WI October 10, 2018 The washer made loud growling noise during high speed spin cycles seemed like metal on metal grinding noise. I was certain a bearing was worn out I first checked appliancepartspros online for parts and prices. I also looked at a couple of videos to aid with disassembly. The videos are excellent, job would be very difficult and some guessing without them. Then I proceeded to tear everything down in the order dictated by the video. I bagged and labeled all screws, washers and small parts as I went along. I got to the hub nut that uses a spanner wrench and got stuck; no easy way to remove it. Since I was going to replace the nut and the shaft and tube assembly, I wasn't concerned about damaging it. So I drilled multiple holes in the nut to take it out in pieces. All other parts were disassembled easily, but I did use an impact cordless driver to help with some tight fasteners. After disassembly, I took inventory of parts and ordered replacements. I erred on the side of caution and replaced the belt, bearing, seal, shaft and tube assembly and various washers and driveline parts...almost everything that moves along the drive mechanism. Assembly was easy...but in part due to careful prep and previously bagging parts, photos and videos. Assembly took less time than disassembly, maybe half as much time. Now it works like new, smooth and quiet. I spent about $160 on parts, better than $400 for repair or $600-800 for a new machine. The only thing I'd do different in a do over is purchase a spanner wrench or a 1-11/16 deep socket to better deal with the hub nut. Mary M Cross Lanes , WV May 17, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Washer WPSR3120W0WW Washing machine transmission leaking oil Replaced transmission, all seals, and dampers. It is a complicated, messy repair but costs much less than replacing the machine. This is the second tranny I have put in the 30 year old machine and now it works like new. Take the time to replace all seals if you do this repair. No use putting a new tranny in with old seals that will crack. John E Santa Ynez , CA December 05, 2014 Appliance: Model GE CLOTHES WASHER WDSR2080DBWW No spin and agitator locked up The mystery of appliance repair has been solved... thanks to the Appliance Parts Pros videos! After watching a few videos, I was able to replace the cracked tub hub, hub washer, hub split ring and hub nut. The only "hitch" I encountered was a frozen hub nut that, over the years of use, had fused itself to the hub shaft, making it necessary to chisel the nut free. Other than that, everything went as predicted and the parts fit perfectly. My trusty GE clothes washer is now working smoother and quieter than it has for years! William C Opelika , AL April 06, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Washer WPRE6150H1WT Washer stopped agitating and spinning I ordered the parts suggested with 2 exceptions. I needed a hub nut wrench and I should have ordered a fuse link that had blown. The washer was loud and would not spin so I ordered the shaft and mode shifter assembly. I also replaced the seal, bushings and all washers. The Hub Nut is extremely hard to get off and after rounding the nut off and much wd40 I resorted to a short pipe wrench. After beating the finger up and a lot of banging with a hammer it came loose. The nut and split ring was both bad and disintegrating. I got it all back together and the fuse link had blown. Not much on the location of that or how to test it. But found it in the right front wiring harness, then had to strip wire down to test and replace and bingo the washer runs like new now... Tom O Haddon Township , NJ November 23, 2018 Shift mode shaft failed Replaced Shift Mode Shaft, this comes with a tub bearing. Note: if you see any distortion where the tub bearing seats or if the bearing slips in and seats to easily without force the hub got hot at sometime and flared out. You will need a new tub. I tried silicon but it failed. Best thing to do is take it apart and see what you'll need. They ship within a few days so you won't be without a washer to long. Definitely buy the hub nut spanner wrench, Hub nut, tub bearing split ring. You might have to cut the aluminum hub nut off. Use a sharp steel chisel or a dremel.
