Connie W Clinton , SC April 21, 2017 Outer tub developed holes which caused leaking Ordered a new outer tub, spanner wrench, new hub nut, split ring and tub seal. Disassembled the washer and reassembled. I used the directions in the machine's manual as well as the YouTube videos posted by appliancepartspros. This is difficult to accomplish with a spanner wrench for the hub nut. Years of mineral deposits made it hard to turn. Also, it's an aluminum nut, so if you crank on it with a pipe wrench or something not made for this nut, you'll likely wear the corners off the nut. Also, best go ahead and order the split ring because it's probably going to break when you take it off (mine did and it added two days plus rush shipping charges to my job waiting on additional parts). Get a new seal, too, just so it's not a worry down the road. My old seal was warped and spongy. Jeffrey M Purcellville , VA January 07, 2017 Older faithful GE washer began leaking during the agitate cycle I reviewed online videos that helped troubleshoot common leak areas. I pulled off the front panel and watched the various cycles and it was obvious that the tub seal was leaking. The video linked me to appliance parts pros website. I entered the model number and every system diagram and parts list was instantly available. Parts were inexpensive and delivered in two days with regular shipping. Buy the spanner wrench. Older machines are going to have rusted nuts and bolts and I had to bang on the tub retaining nut (reverse threads) for a while with the spanner wrench and hammer, but I finally convinced it to give up. The repair is straight forward. Worked like a charm and maybe I can get another year or two out of a reliable machine before I spring for a new one. Charles H Cleveland , OH May 19, 2015 Appliance: General Electric Washer WKSR2100T5WW High pitched whine in spin cycle Everything came out fine down to the hub nut. Had to cut it down with a portable grinder and cutting wheel. I used a hammer and flat blade demo screwdriver to chisel the rest of the hub nut out. I had to use a 2x4 cut to the diameter of the inner basket and a bottle jack to pry the basket out. I placed the 2x4 under the rim of the basket, put the jack under it and on top of the transmission shaft. I ran the jack up until the basket popped loose. The rest was as shown in the repair videos. Thomas B Blairsville , GA April 28, 2024 Leaking from the tub seal I ordered every part involved and some that weren't. removing the hub nut required a 1 11/16" socket and used my impact wrench. the tub didn't lift out as easy as the video shows, I had to soak the hub and shaft with "Brake Clean" over night to get it to come loose. reversing the procedure was easy. Ken S Livermore , CA February 05, 2024 Appliance: General Electric Washer WPRE6150H1WT Noisy hub bearing in the washing machine The disassembly and assembly video on how to access, remove and replace the hub bearing was invaluable. It was accurate and made the job so much easier. I also can’t believe how fast the parts came. I ordered with normal shipping and yet they arrived the next day. Plus, all of the parts were genuine original manufacture parts and not “knock offs” like another big online store sells. My washer is like new again and I don’t have to buy a a new one saving me $100’s of dollars. Read More... Rikhi G Granite City , IL January 15, 2024 Appliance: General Electric Washer GCWP1800D1WW Very noisy especially during spin cycle and leaking. Found that the Shaft & Tube Assembly was shot (shaft wobbling). Replaced the shaft and tube assembly (including the tub seal). Also opted tp replace the Hub Nut, Tub Bearing Split Ring, Tub Bearing Washer, Hub Washer, and Drive Belt to bring the complete drive back to new condition. The tub bearing proved difficult to pry out from on top so I drove it out by hammering from below using a wooden handle that was of the correct diameter. Read More...
