How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP7015078 / 6501KW2002B Washer Rotor Position Sensor Assembly

The gears were broken in the clutch assembly because the bearing blew up. Ordered the clutch housing assembly and the rotor positioning sensor, suggested through the video I saw. Installed clutch assembly and sensor switch which was not to hard to do. When testing the washer, it was not working right so I disconnected the cord in hopes the computer will reset and it worked and I leveled the washing machine. My wife did a couple of loads and the washer is working good for now. Hopefully it will work for a couple more years. 

Diagnosed problem by watching videos on your site. Replaced the HAL sensor after watching instructional video. Took 15minutes. Easy fix. Washer now working! Thank you very much. Great site. Great service. Next time there is an issue, I'll be back. 

Replaced Hall sensor and wiring harness. Very simple fix. So far, so good...! 

Replaced the rotor position sensor assembly. It was very simple with the video that was provided to me by the appliance pros. I'm very pleased with the service, provided by the representative, and received the parts quickly. 

Husband found your site and was able to diagnose the problem, watch a video on how to repair it and order the part. It came within 2 days and he was able to replace it himself. The washer worked again and the repair cost under $50 including expedited shipping. 

I replaced a rotor position sensor switch and harness. It was a simple repair. Tools required cross tip head screwdriver, 10mm and 17mm socket, and rachet. Also had o replace 2 zip ties that held the harness in place. Prior to repair, I watched a video on Appliance Parts Pros website. It was very helpful and informative. One last thing, the persons who answer the calls are very helpful. 

I first tried replacing the rotor position sensor, but the error code appeared on a subsequent test. I pulled the stator and tested the coils and wiring and everything tested ok. Decided to replace the main control board. The replacement was quick and easy. Unfortunately, I have the dryer stacked on top. So, I had to lift it down to access the board. Washer works perfectly after board replacement, and now it's not using as much water due to load-sensing working. A few oddities I noticed on the original bad board: 1 - I could disconnect the plug from the wall and if I spun the tub fast enough for a few seconds by hand I could power up the washing machine. The display would come on and I could interact with the controls. It would die after a few seconds when the power supply caps were depleted. 2 - As I mentioned earlier the load sensing was always 100%. 3 - Washer would sometimes "grunt' and rotor would lock. This would eventually lead to LE error, but wouldn't happen all the time. If I pushed on the rotor while it was grunting it would take off and the washer would continue cycle without error. 4 - Washer had a loud whine during de-acceleration. 5 - When I pulled the control board I noticed some discoloration on the traces next to component #IC241 (small heat sink component next to the motor connector). Hope this helps someone out. This one had me stumped for a minute.

Got a new sensor and put it together 

I followed the instructions from the video and replacing the Rotor Position Sensor Switch. All is well now - the washer is functioning back to normal.
