I first tried replacing the rotor position sensor, but the error code appeared on a subsequent test. I pulled the stator and tested the coils and wiring and everything tested ok. Decided to replace the main control board. The replacement was quick and easy. Unfortunately, I have the dryer stacked on top. So, I had to lift it down to access the board. Washer works perfectly after board replacement, and now it's not using as much water due to load-sensing working.
A few oddities I noticed on the original bad board:
1 - I could disconnect the plug from the wall and if I spun the tub fast enough for a few seconds by hand I could power up the washing machine. The display would come on and I could interact with the controls. It would die after a few seconds when the power supply caps were depleted.
2 - As I mentioned earlier the load sensing was always 100%.
3 - Washer would sometimes "grunt' and rotor would lock. This would eventually lead to LE error, but wouldn't happen all the time. If I pushed on the rotor while it was grunting it would take off and the washer would continue cycle without error.
4 - Washer had a loud whine during de-acceleration.
5 - When I pulled the control board I noticed some discoloration on the traces next to component #IC241 (small heat sink component next to the motor connector).
Hope this helps someone out. This one had me stumped for a minute.
