How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4998848 / EBF49827801 Washer Door Lock Switch

Simple and easy fix. Removed spring clamp thing from the door seal using a paint scraper, removed two screws from switch assembly, pulled door seal back just enough to access switch. Pulled switch out and disconnected plug. Reversed all of this to put it back together and started washing clothes again. The entire process took me 20 minutes and most of that was fighting the spring clamp back into place. 

Replaced the washer door lock switch to resolve the error code. Also replaced the Door boot seal while I had the front gasket clamp off to access the door lock switch. Removed top of the unit, removed the front panel, removed the door removed balance weights. Removed rear gasket clamp to get door boot seal off. Removed and cleaned drain hoses. Replaced all parts and it worked like a champ.

After researching problem on APP web site and reviewing questions other customers had. Best guess was to replace the door lock switch assembly.This was done by removing the gasket spring retainer using needle nose pliers to pull the spring and remove it, then pull the gasket back on the side of the switch. Remove the 2 screws from the front of the switch with screw driver, pull the switch out through the front and unplug it. Then just reverse the process. Plug in new switch, tuck it back in opening, replace the screws (they are self tapping into plastic switch housing, do not over tighten). Replace gasket and secure with spring retainer. Machine finishes cycle with no alarm code. 

After about eight years of use, the door of my LG washing machine started periodically failing to lock. It got more and more erratic, and finally failed completely. It displayed the error code dE. I found instructions online for replacing the door lock mechanism and ordered the part. It was easy to replace and took about 15 minutes. After unplugging the machine, all you have to do is remove the wire ring from around the door, pull the rubber aside, unscrew the old locking mechanism, remove it, unplug it, plug the new one in, screw it in place, and replace the wire ring. I had no previous appliance repair experience. The unit now works fine again. The manufacturer advises resetting the machine when a dE error message is displayed. Probably best to try that first. There are instructions on their website. 

Diagnosed the needed part, found it on website, watched YouTube video and once part arrived replaced the part. 

I Googled my error code D2 Switch assembly,locker Went to Appliance parts pros to find my part and view the DIY repair video. Determined I could make this repair, ordered my part and 26 hours later I had my part in hand. I removed the defective part and compared it to the replacement noticing the two were not identical. I called Appliance parts pros customer service and was advised the manufacturer had made changes to the part and my part was correct. Proceeded with the repair and completed same in 10 minutes. Puta new locer switch stated rigt up but then it will not draispeen cycle had a filter to the pumpdrain cleand out now all u can hear is a griding nois and it wont drain or spinn
