How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP4442090 / 6600JB1010A Refrigerator Door Switch

Replaced the switch. Prying out the old one was the hardest part but once I saw where the clip was on the photo, I knew where to fiddle with the screwdriver and putty knive. 

After looking at the "How to" video on replacing the light switch I replaced the Switch. Now the Fridge light comes on and off with the door opening as it should. 

Ordered a new switch and swapped them out. The part came quicker than I thought. It took only about 2 minutes to change it. I used a sharp knife to lift the edge of the switch and then slid a small putty knife under the edge to depress the lock tab and pull the switch out. I pulled the plug off the old and pushed it onto the new. The new switch snapped easily back into it's hole. 

ORDERED NEW SWITCH AND PUT IT IN MY SELF VERY SIMPLE. ORDERED ON ONE DAY AND WAS DELIVERD THE NEXT DAY VERY FAST SEVICE. 

Replace light switch. 

Suspected it was a bad switch. Goggled the model number for the refrigerator, confirmed that was the likely problem. Located the replacement part on your site, made the purchase and in a few days received the part in the mail. Quick and simple install and now there's light once again. No hassle. 

Ordered door light switch using standard low cost shipping. Was surprised when I received the switch the next day. It was shipped FedEx from a distributor in a nearby town. Carefully pried the old switch out with a putty knife and put the new one in. Bingo the light comes on every time we open the refrigerator now. 

I ordered a replacement and installed it. But it is still a poorly designed switch. I will replace the bulb with an LED bulb to lower the amperage draw and reduce damage to the contacts. This is very typical of Kenmore appliances, they make a lot of money on repair. The repair is simple. Only one small screwdriver is required to pop the switch out. Then just release the clips on the switch connector, pull the connector out and replace it into the new switch and pop the new switch into place. I replaced the switch for $2 less, including shipping, than Sears wants for the switch. Sears also charges $6.95 for shipping to the Sears store. No wonder they're going out of business...

I purchased a new switch from Appliance Parts Pros and very easily replaced the old switch in 4 minutes. Sears home repair quoted me a price of $225.00 for parts and labor and I did it myself for $10- with an excellent video supplied to explain the repair.
