How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4138858 / DA34-10003S Refrigerator Compressor Overload Protector Relay

I replaced the start relay, compressor overload, thermal fuse and temperature sensor. Most likely culprits from the other customers were the relay and overload. Total time to repair was under an hour because I followed the instructional videos (very helpful). Plugged it in and the fridge was back in action. It has been a week without issues and my girlfriend is grumpy because we are not getting her dream fridge now but I am happier not having to buy a new fridge for $2K. 

The relay and the compressor over load replacement fixed the problem. 

My error code was 88 88 on my French door Samsung purchased in 2007. I did a Google search and called AppliancePartsPros.com. They diagnosed the problem correctly and they gave me the part numbers and also suggested I buy the extra part (which was great advice). They suggested I purchase a start relay and the relay protector( the extra part). The parts arrived faster than expected!!! The whole installation process only took me only 20 minutes. Replaced overload relay. Porcelain peice inside relay wears out over time. 

Replaced the start relay and now everything works fine. 

Replaced compressor relay and overload switch 

After describing the symptoms on google, I went to your site and watched a video on how to repair this problem. So I ordered the start relay and overload protector (to be safe) and installed them. Easy / Peasy. Small screwdriver to remove a clip and the rest was straight forward. Good info, good site, fast shipping. I replaced both the start relay and the compressor overload in less than 5 minuets. This diy couldn't have been easier and saved me several hundred bucks tons repair man. 

After reading about this on your site, I listened to the compressor after plugging the fridge in. It tried to start up but stopped after a click. I replaced the start relay and compressor overload switch and now the fridge and freezer are working normally. The parts arrived quickly. I highly recommend your site. 

I found this used fridge at a local home improvement store and brought it home only to find that the compressor did not run, but the relay on the side clicked. After checking the resistance of the compressor coils, I purchased a start relay, start capacitor, and compressor overload relay. I don't know which one fixed the problem, but for very little money and effort, I have a great fridge!
