How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4979323 / DA32-10104N Refrigerator Temperature Sensor

Replaced both sensors, not sure which one was bad, so I ordered both. 

Ordered new temp sensor, fuse and fuse mounting bracket. Tested the resistance thru the heating element first, which was ok. Found no resistance thru fuse, so I replaced fuse, bracket and temp sensor since it was disassembled anyway. Make certain sensor is secure and making good contact. Hardest part was getting ice melted enough to remove the cover. Used a hair drier and a lot of patience. 

The evaporator keeps freezing up, this has been an ongoing problem with this refrigerator. I have paid for the extended warranty many times with the promise of refrigerator replacement if the problem keeps happening. That being said I have watched the Techs tear the refrigerator apart several times to thaw out the evaporator and replace the fan unit 3 times. The warranty expired and we refuse to pay to extend it again. By ordering the parts from AppliancePartsPros.com it was cheaper and quicker to get the parts and repair the refrigerator myself as opposed to paying for the warranty that has too much fine print that exempts the company from following through with what they verbally say they will do. 

Searched the net and found all kinds of remedies. Some were not so great but finally watched the video by appliance parts pros. What a great instructional video! Ordered the parts and they, as promised had it at my door in Alaska. Installed the parts about 3 weeks ago and the fridge is doing great! 

It took longer to defrost than install the new fan/cover. 

After reading different articles on this problem thought it could be any of 3 things wrong. So before going to the trouble of removing everything I ordered the heater, sensor and bi-metal protector. After doing the ohm checks on each, I only replaced the sensor and it seems to be working fine. Can't decide whether to send unused parts back or keep for further trouble. 

I watched several YouTube videos about this issue with Samsung fridges. Some of them showed how to do a forced defrost and that should fix it. Some showed how to do forced defrost and add aftermarket heater coils or some sort of heater to the coils, etc. I called my local appliance store where I bought the fridge and asked them about the issue and they said Samsung is taking care of this issue if you call them, and if you can get a response. I researched the parts and found them on AppliancePartsPros.com. Much cheaper and easier than dealing with a service call and repairs. It was easy to do it yourself change out and so far the fridge isn't making any noise, no ice build up and it is cooling very well. Fingers crossed it lasts more than 7 years:-) 

Replaced the defrost thermostat and temperature sensor. Currently removing the ice build-up, had to take off the back panel. 

Watched the how to videos (very helpful!!!) and replaced the two temperature sensors: DA32-10104N and DA32-00011C. Now runs like a charm!!! So I have a Samsung French Door, 4-Door refrigerator that is plagued with the evaporator coils freezing up with noise from the fan hitting the ice. This is a well-known problem affecting many people. This refrig is 7 years old. Aside from that, it works fine. I have taken it apart many time -- like 15 times -- over the past few years to melt the ice with a hair dryer. That lasts a month or two. I even have resorted to running 2-hours-worth of Forced Defrost cycles. Anyway, while I have bought appliance parts from a couple of other sites, I came across AppliancePartsPros. I love their YouTube videos, which were very useful. I paid a bit extra for expedited delivery and the parts showed up in a day or two. No idea if it will fix the problem, but I bought both the Defrost Thermostat and the Temperature Sensor. Replacing both parts took 5-10 minutes, though unloading food, removing the shelves and back panel, then reloading everything put the job at under an hour. Overall simple to replace. Time will tell if the problem returns. Anyway, AppliancePartsPros will be my preferred providing going forward.
