Jon S Tuscarora , MD February 21, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF260BEAEBC/AA-0001 Displayed e1 error code the root cause was the sensor (thermistor) that got ripped off of the roof of the freezer Since I could not find the correct thermistor from the schematic provided, I ordered the thermistor harness for the evaporator. I cut the harness and spliced it to the sheared thermistor wires on the roof of the freezer compartment. It now works fine with a little "farmer ingenuity" help. Samsung was absolutely no help at all, but the guy that I spoke with over the phone at APP sure was. This site is now my "go to" for appliance parts! Tip for others with this model. Do not overfill the upper storage tray in the freezer. Doing so may cause stored items to shear the freezer sensor (thermistor) off when the door is closed. Louis R Corpus Christi , TX May 14, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RFG293HAWP/XAA-0000 The refrigerator was building up ice on the evaporator to the point that it was interfering with the cooling fan I replaced the temperature sensor, the thermo fuse, and the heating element that thaws the evaporator on a cycle to keep the evaporator from freezing up. The most time consuming part of the repair was waiting for the fridge to thaw out so that I could remove the cover. I disconnected the fridge the night before and placed a fan on low with the doors open so that it was thawed out when I awoke. It was easy to remove the evaporator cover once I removed all of the shelves. I took pics as i was removing everything to make sure I plugged everything back in its correct location. Be careful to straighten any cooling fins that get bent and make sure the shroud around the heating element is back in place closely around the heating element. Hope this helps someone else. Susan S Nuevo , CA March 18, 2018 Samsung french door fridge ice build up on back wall jamming fan Looked up similar problems on internet. Watched U-Tube fixes and removal of back panel. Took 24 hours to defrost and be able to remove back panel and syrofoam in one piece. Then went to AppliancePartsPros.com, ordered all the defrost parts with some help by Chat to get right pieces for my fridge model. The parts arrived in 2 days. It was very simple followed video. Took about 1 hour to remove and replace parts. All parts are plug in so minimal tool requirement. I waited over month to make sure it had solved problem and fridge is working as it should now no apparent problems. Contacting Samsung only gave the answer of "call a technician" at about $500.00!! The parts and shipping were less than $100.00. I am 71 and female. Anyone could do this repair. Lisa E Old Bridge , NJ September 13, 2020 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF28HMEDBWW/AA-0000 Samsung refrigerator kept icing up causing a loud sound when fan hit it and eventually preventing the fan from moving. After having a refrigerator repairman come 2 x’s to fix and it kept icing up then calls to the refrigerator repair were going unanswered I decided I was going to fix it myself. I watched 2 YouTube videos and decided I could do that. I order all the parts to change everything that could possibly be causing this. Heating element, defrost sensor, and 2 different temperature sensors. I figured if I was going to take the refrigerator apart I might as well try everything rather than having to do trial and error. Honestly, it was so easy. It took under an hour to replace everything. The hardest part to replace was the heating element but even that only took 20 min. The rest were literally plugins. I took pictures of everything before I started so I put everything back exactly. So easy! BTW- my husband was so impressed!!! Katie K Lancaster , OH March 25, 2019 Back of frig freezing every 4-8 weeks I’ve been defrosting the back of my frig over the past 2 years every 4-8 weeks. I finally decided to look into replacing a few parts. After watching the videos I realized it was something I could easily do. I did end up having to purchase a tool, but the cost was only $12 which is far less than it was the service guy would have charged me. Over all to remove the old parts and replace the new parts it only took me 10 mins. Robert D Union Beach , NJ May 20, 2016 Appliance: Model RF263TEAESR Samsunsg rf263teaesr refrigerator would not cool down below 42deg Turns out the temp sensor I purchased was not the problem. It had to do with the temp control of refrigerator being out of calibration. I logged into the temp control via the touch panel on front and set the proper temp from there. It now maintains 35deg when the touch panel say 35deg. It never worked better in 3yrs I owned it Read More... 8 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
Jerry B Elkin , NC September 08, 2019 My refrigerator would not cool. The ice maker kept freezing up and so did the fan in back of the fridge. Let the refrigerator defrost over night, plus used a hair dryer to speed up the process. Removed back panel on inside (twin cooling on it ) along with Styrofoam insulation, careful here must unplug wires .Replace temp sensor between panel and insulation. Next replace sensor at the back of the fridge located on evaporator coil tube, next was to replace drain tube defroster ( must remove factory one by drilling out rivet) careful not to damage evap coil replace with new one which looks a little different. It is wider and longer to retain more heat to keep drain tube from freezing up.
