You can't buy the heater by itself, but you can buy the assembly with the heater. It's very easy with needle-nose pliers to straighten the fins, and remove the heater from the assembly, took less than 10 minutes to cut the wire ties, straighten the fins, and remove the heater. Once the refrigerator was defrosted, it was easy to then remove the broken heater and replace it, took about 30 minutes including defrosting with a hair dryer.
It's a bit of work to remove all the shelves, and remove the panel, but the whole process took less than 2 hours and the sealed part of the system (i.e. Freon) didn't need to be touched.
