How to Troubleshoot & Replace Samsung AP4136048 / DA47-00095E Refrigerator Defrost Thermal Fuse Assembly

You can't buy the heater by itself, but you can buy the assembly with the heater. It's very easy with needle-nose pliers to straighten the fins, and remove the heater from the assembly, took less than 10 minutes to cut the wire ties, straighten the fins, and remove the heater. Once the refrigerator was defrosted, it was easy to then remove the broken heater and replace it, took about 30 minutes including defrosting with a hair dryer. It's a bit of work to remove all the shelves, and remove the panel, but the whole process took less than 2 hours and the sealed part of the system (i.e. Freon) didn't need to be touched. 

Replaced evaporator fan motor, fan blade and Temp sensor. Working perfectly now!!! Wanted to replace thermal fuse too but much more difficult to access. Have some 3/4 in gray foam weather striping tape available in case you need to replace some of it. 

Replaced 4 different parts based on reviews here and various other sources. 4 parts included: 1) Sensor - AP4136950 (DA32-10109Y) 2) Temperature Sensor - AP4136842 (DA32-00006W) 3) Temperature Sensor - AP4136048 (DA47-00095E) 4) Drain Heater - AP4136045 (DA47-00094C) Replaced #1 and #2 first, but didn't correct the problem. So far (1 week), replacing #3 and #4 appears to be working. Be careful, it seems the reviews on this site are applied to multiple products, so it may not be clear which product pertains to the fix noted in each review. Other than this confusion, site is great and price is right. 

I had already replace a evaporator fan and the fridge was constantly running but not getting below 50. Found evaporator frozen over. So I decided to replace both thermostats and the fuse. Found all parts available ordered on BLACK Friday had next day (live in Indiana). Works perfectly since. Love this site. 

Replace Temp sensor, thermo fuse 

We had a tech come in for a diagnostic, according to the man four parts were in need of replacement. Heater, fan motor, thermostat and fuse. his estimate including labor $518.00 however his diagnosis didn't make sense because he did not test anything, his diagnostic was based on pure speculation. I ended up doing the work myself replacing the thermostat and fuse to a tune of $27.00 including next day shipping. By the way we had another tech come in previously his take: there's no remedy for modern fridges according to him these units are way too complicated and therefore disposable. 

Damper door was broken super glued the shaft part back together. I put in the new sensors,Evaporator Fan Motor, fan blade. I couldn't find the thermal fuse top plug had a red jumper wire. Its working right now. ( Fridge tem. 40 Freezer 0) Probably gonna put a new motor-Damper in it. don't know how long the glue will hold. 

Had to take the defroster apart from the evaporator since they don't sell them seperatly, that was the only downfall but with their easy to read diagrams it was easy to get the right parts I needed and trust me when I say I'm no refrigeration pro! 

Replaced high temp fuse and temp sensors 

I called for service on my Samsung refrigerator/freezer that was not cooling properly in the refrigerator section. The technician only put a thermometer in the freezer section for about 10 minutes. He said the coil was freezing up which only happens when the coolant is low. He then proceeded to tell me he could not repair it. He indicated the life of the unit was only 8 years. After some discussion he did tell me I could get some coolant added and it may last a while but that he could not do it because he would have to warranty it for 90 days and it may not last that long. He suggested that I have someone add a little coolant. He did seem to be in a hurry to get out because of the holiday coming up. I had someone else look at the unit and he informed me it did not need coolant. He indicated it was probably a minor part and the defrost cycle was malfunctioning. I ordered the 2 parts he suggested we try first. In the meantime, we had a severe windstorm here and our power was off for 5-6 hours and the refrigerator worked fine for about a week then froze up again. My son and I viewed a video on how to repair it and we decided to try it. It took about an hour including defrosting the coil. It has been 2 weeks and it is still working fine.
