How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

Got a new bracket from appliance parts

Fortunately, the fix was a simple one because I ordered the right part and got my appliance operating correctly. I ordered the part one day and received it the NEXT day, so I was astounded at the speed at which I got the part I needed. I installed the part with no trouble and was pleased with the results. Youtube videos from AppliancePartsPros.com were fantastic. They walked me through getting the right parts and went above and beyond. 

Followed the instructional video you provided and it was easy. Remove the front panel, disconnect the wires, remove the broken part and then do everything in reverse with the new part. Overall it was very easy once I watched the video. 

First I thought it was the motor as it did not turn. I ordered one and replaced it and it still did not work. I then took off the panel in the front of the freezer and discovered that the prongs that hold the dispenser switch in place were broken. I then checked the switch and it worked so the only thing that was wrong was the control bracket. Make sure to check this out before ordering any parts. Installation was easy with the video being spot on.

I followed the online video and popped in the new part in about 10 minutes. With the Whirlpool Gold stainless steel look, you have to remove the door handle and the stainless panels in order to pop off the face of the dispenser unit. 

The Control Bracket that held the switch was broken. I replaced it and it now works well. Nothing wrong with the switch. YouTube provided excellent instruction on the problem and how to fix it.
