How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

Son went to your website and followed video to take area apart. Micro switch was not working. We ordered parts to arrive overnight. He then fixed it. Water and ice dispense now. 

Watched your YouTube video. 

New bracket. Fixed issue completely. But, just a matter of time before it fails again. Extremely poor design issue. The micro switch for the water is held on by the bracket that I replaced. There are 2 plastic pins that are part of the bracket extrusion. They are roughly 2 mm in diameter, and secure the micro switch to the bracket. On the original bracket, one of the pins broke off from normal wear and tear. That left the micro switch unsecured, and "flapping in the breeze". Pressing the water lever in the door just pushed the entire micro switch, without actually actuating the switch! No actuation - no water! New bracket remedied the problem. Very simple install. Pop the cover off the door, disconnect 1 electrical plug, pull the old bracket out. Reverse to install new one. 

Watched a great video from your organization. Took apart the front of the fridge just like in your video and identified the problem immediately. I ordered the replacement parts and the fix was very simple. Keep up the great work on your videos. However, I have not received one of the two parts I ordered yet. The decorative grate under the ice and water dispenser. please send 

I took the dispenser apart and discovered a broken piece of plastic. I watched the video on replacing it then ordered the piece. It was easy to fix and took about 15 minutes including cleaning dirty parts. 

Watched the video on your site and fixed it in about 10 minutes. 

Removed the front panel as seen on video and realized that the plastic poles that hold the switch in place had broken. Ordered the replacement bracket and watched your video on replacement and it is back working again. Thanks!!! 

Replaced a bracket that held the switches for ice and water dispensing. Watched the video. Ordered the recommended part. Watched the video again. Short memory at 79 years. Replaced the bracket step by step per the video. Everything went as planned. Worked great. Love that secure feeling of ice falling down the chute into my glass. 

I did a search on the Appliance Parts Pros website for my Whirlpool Refrigerator model # parts list to find out how to remove the bezel as I suspected a switch related problem. I found the part that holds both the water and ice switches and there was a video that showed exactly how to remove and replace the part and even indicated that this was the highest failure point for no water or ice dispensing. Chose standard shipping and the part arrived in 4 days over the Thanksgiving holiday! The video saved possible damage just trying to remove the bezel and made this a super simple repair. Almost anyone can follow the video and make the repair and it will only take about 15 minutes to switch out and be back in operation!
