Note: Fridge is about 10 years old...ice and water dispenser get used very frequently. First, I watched the repair video on this site to verify the problem. It was excellent and concise. So I bought the broken tab ice door kit and dispenser bracket. (This is the 2nd replacement of the bracket because the thin tabs that hold the water dispense switch broke off again.)
The broken tab ice door kit wasn't cheap $100+, for only about 5-6 parts. Bracket was $16. Still not bad. and parts came in less than 3 days as promised!
I followed the video instructions and everything went smoothly...except one small 'gotcha'. The $100 kit doesn't include the push nut that holds the ice chute door rod on one side. The instructions say to reuse the existing one. Well, mine fell off and disappears maybe when it broke, and I had to go find a close replacement for $0.35 at the hardware store. I took my time so it probably took 30-45 minutes; a repair person probably does it in 15 min or less, and charges you a good hour for the service call!
This site had the best explanation and video and parts in stock. Used before. Saved a good chunk on a service call, that's for sure.
Thanks very much.
