How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

Fridge made ice, but the auger motor would not run to dispense. The dispensing lever did not feel right when pushed. Removed front trim panel from the dispenser and found tabs broke off, that hold the microswitch in place. Worked ok when pushed on the switch. Ordered a new bracket and replaced it. Works fine now. Great video that showed step by step repair process. 

Watched APP.com video on possible problems. I found the problem. It was housing which held the switch had broken. ordered part shipped fast and replaced after watching a how-to video. Works fine. 

Replaced bracket (AP6005965/WP2180226) and screws which were missing. The AppliancePartsPros video guided me every step! 

WatchIng video enabled me to identify problem. Ordered part Friday. Choose $10.95 S&H Part arrived Saturday .. Done in 20 minutes

Originally I thought the ice maker motor was bad, but Suzanne Y. helped troubleshoot with me over the phone and we found that the motor was fine (would have cost over $150) but the bracket was bad (only $16). What a huge relief and only possible with the help of Suzanne Y! 

Replaced broken bracket.

After a bit of trouble shooting, I determined that my issue was at the door dispenser. Originally thinking it was the water micro-switch, I got into the area with a plastic putty knife (stainless steel finish). Once in, the true issue presented itself and I notice that the two plastic pins on the bracket had broken off stopping the micro-switch from functioning. After ordering the parts I needed and watching the provided video it was easy to fix. 

Figured out there was something wrong with the switch on my water dispenser. Nothing happened when I pressed the dispenser paddle. There was also no "action" in the paddle. It was like a spring was broken or something. Thanks to the outstanding video appliancepartspros had, I was able to remove the front cover and find that the bracket was broken. The video gave me the confidence to fix it myself. The part came quickly and I had it fixed in 30 minutes.
