How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

The only tool needed was a screwdriver to pop the bezel off the door. After that, it was all snap-fit hooks to take out the old and install the new. Finished not even 15 minutes after it was delivered to the porch. 

Replaced each item in 10 minutes. 

I explained the problem to one of your representatives .Told him what I saw broken inside the door. He knew the exact part that I needed & sent it to me. It was so easy to replace. I watched your video. YOU GUYS ROCK! 

We haven’t had water in the refrigerator door for 2-3 years. I had tried replacing filter, cleaning water lines and replacing the valve assembly. I incorrectly assumed repair was electronic and pushing boundaries of my abilities. Then I found an hour to: 1. Research this site listing most likely issues 2. Watched 5 minute video 3. Ordered part and waited a few days 4. Installed in less than 10 minutes with a putty knife and screwdriver. 5. Told wife she was correct...because it was an easy fix!

Replaced micro switch and back plate. 

Replaced the dispenser bracket on the door and it solved the problem. Found a broken plastic peace while taking the old one out. 

I used the video from you tube to show me how to take the unit apart and find the problem. I ordered the part.it arrived in 6 days, $25. I used the video link that came with the part for how to install new part. Done in 20min. 

I watched the video and decided I could do the repair. As soon as I got access to the bracket it was apparent that the bracket was broken. The removal and installation of the parts were exactly like the repair video showed except, I had two small screws holding on the front cover. I will tackle all of my repairs by visiting AlliancePartsPros.com first from now on. It's super nice to see how it is done and to know if you are able to handle the repair yourself. New part replacement was very simple. Video is very helpful. Mine did not have screws on the bottom, only tabs that needed to be pried apart. The order of the bulb wires does not matter, connectors are different sizes so location will be dependant on installation orientation in new bracket. Easy fix! Also, it was easy to diagnose because there was no resistance when pressing in the water dispenser tab and no "click" of the microswitch. Could see issue as soon as outer trim was removed.
