How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

THANKS to your video it was easy! I ordered the new bracket, took out the old one and put in the new one in about 15 minutes, the new bracket fit perfectly and my water dispenser works again ! 

With help from Appliance Parts Pros Q&A section, I asked my problem. I was sent a email containing a schematic of the frig. With troubleshooting the wiring, found that the bracket that held the micro switch that turns on the dispencer motor was broken. The switch was not being activated when the ice dispencing lever was pushed. I had thought the motor was bad but with the help of APP, I saved money and time. 

Bought replacement part and installed it. 

Replaced bracket holding micro switch. 

Looked up the part I needed and it was a quick and easy fix. 

Ordered bracket and had it fixed in less than 10 minutes 

After watching a few videos, I checked out the dispenser on fridge 1. Our bracket had a broken pin that kept the dispenser switch in place, once the part arrived it was a very quick replacement and everything is working fine. On fridge 2, the drain for the defrost cycle was frozen over, a common problem apparently for this refrigerator type. We had to defrost the refrigerator and replaced the part as recommended and everything is working fine! 

The pins on the bracket that hold the water dispenser and ice dispenser switches were broken off. Replaced the bracket. The dispenser lever retainer was broken which made the actuator lever loose. Replaced the dispenser lever retainer. I reused the old dispenser arm strain relief and did not need the new part. Very easy to do. 

Took the panel out, and ordered a new one. Once I got the part, I reinstalled it, and now I have ice, (water and frig door light) all working! With appliancepartspros.com it was easy-peasy! Thanks!
