How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6005965 / WP2180226 Control Bracket

Ordered the part, received it in 3 days. Replaced it with a flat tip screwdriver and a 1/4 inch socket in less than 10 minutes. 

Swapped out old bracket with the new one

I replaced the Bracket and watched the how to install video attached. Super helpful and super easy to install. I will come to this website again to purchase due the tutorial DIY video. Thanks. 

I thought I had a problem with my ice maker but really I had a problem with the ice maker activation switch retainer little locating pins on the switch retainer had broken and in the switch was not located securely and would not activate 

I replaced the unit and put new micro switches in on both sides. Took 20 minutes and works fine. As fragile as the pins are it is safer to assemble the micro switches prior to placing bracket on appliance. 

I was told by a local repairman that he may have to dismantle the door in order to repair it. (I wish I had ran across you site early, before I had him replace the thermostat in my freezer). The video made the fix an easy fix and the parts I order priced very reasonable and arrived in a few days. Thanks, you guys do a great job with your demos. Used the bracket part as shown on your video. 

Watched video first . Remove bezel / trim from door .Removed wiring from bracket , Removed bracket. I then transferred parts to new bracket. Reinstalled new bracket then wiring and installed bezel / trim. 

Performed web search and found APP's helpful diagnostic videos. Determined the problem was not the solenoid, and not the electric switch, but was the plastic mounting bracket behind the dispenser controls. Ordered the part and it arrived in 2 days. Checked the video linked to the part to be sure there would be no surprises with the repair. Great website app and great diagnostic support and repair videos. Thanks.
