Travis B Wentzville , MO May 25, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED2PHEXMQ00 Heard a ticking from the refrigerator and then the next day it quit cooling on both the refrigerator and freezer side I assumed the compressor had gone out after some reading on the website and some additional online research it seemed that it may just be the starter for the compressor which is a fraction of the price of a compressor so I decided to try that. I replaced that part and vacuumed off and cleaned the coils which were extremely dirty. That seemed to work and the refrigerator is now working great. Read More... Charles J Wisconsin Rapids , WI April 25, 2015 Freezer was not freezing Compressor relay sounded like rolling dice. New part arrived two days later. My 14 year old son replaced it. We now have ice in the freezer (and food again too). Unplugged the fridge. Removed the back (1/4" socket) cardboard cover. Removed the 2 wires. Removed the old relay. Reconnected the wires. Replaced cover. Plugged in. About 3 hours later, went grocery shopping and replaced food. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Socket Set

Michele G Robstown , TX March 10, 2015 Our refrigerator quit working I did a little research, because my wife started getting a little crazy. She was trying to use our drink fridge going out as a spring board to a kitchen remodel. My research suggested there were 2 possibilities, 1 being about a $350 dollar fix and this being a $60 part. I told her we'd try this and if it didn't get it running, we'd do everything she was suggesting. I installed the compressor starter and the fridge is back up and running. Read More... Ted P Gloversville , NY January 03, 2015 Refrigerator compressor failed to work After viewing several U-tube videos I narrowed it down to the relay on the compressor. After removing the solid state relay a simple shake test indicated it was no longer a solid state relay but a collection of burned pieces of plastic. Finding the problem took a couple of hours. Replacing the part after receiving it took fifteen minutes. The only negative part of the repair is that I received more parts in the kit then was needed to make the repair which I undoubtedly paid for. A simple number from the side of the compressor would have resulted in the one part required. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers
