How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3885081 / 8201786 Compressor Starting Device Kit

Researched other peoples problems on your website. Check the ohms across the point contacts on the compressor like was explained on another persons thread. Readings were in range so ordered compressor start kit. Kit came very quickly but without relay. Customer service quickly sent out another kit at no charge. Easily installed kit using your sites video and frig is now running great. 

My husband plugged the new one in and it's been working for four days so far. 

Went through a bunch of blogs/forum to try to find the problem part. While searching everything came back to the relay. Went ahead with purchase, and within 5 minutes of receiving had the fridge back up and running. That repair video is truly worth $$$! 

Ordered the compressor starter kit from AppliancePartPros. Part arrived in only a couple of days. The online video was great, as it walked me through the installation process. This was especially helpful, as there were multiple optional parts in the kit that were not needed. Now my fridge is cool and my wife is happy. :-) 

Checked Freon levels & discovered compressor was not running, ordered Compressor start kit & capacitor. Installed both items and refrigerator is operating normal again. 

Removed the backing of the appliance. Located the compressor. determined compressor was not running. ordered starting relay for my compressor model. removed old relay and replaced with new relay. Cleaned the underneath of the appliance with a reversed shop vac, blowing all lint and dust from the underneath of the unit. Plugged the unit back in to wall. Compressor started. Within 24 hours, back to operating and cooling in freezer and refrigerator. 

Compressor Starting Device. although several were sent in kit we only needed the one. Easy fix. after the problem was figured out. 

My power was out for 5 days. When it came back on there must have been a surge which knocked out my frige. I read on your Web site several of your customer stories which sounded similar to mine. Between those stories and your helpful repair videos I took a chance and ordered the parts (compressor starter kit} and paid extra for 2 day shipping. About 2 hours later I found out my Dad had the same problem. I called to add to my order but she said it was too late but without missing a beat she entered a new order and waived the shipping charge. Kudos!! To make a long story short the parts arrived a day early. I followed your video with no trouble and it worked!!! I can't thank you enough. I didn't need a $300 repair bill especially since my wife just lost her job. It may seem your business is just a business but you should know you help peoples lives 

Pulled the start relay and found it burned badly. I ordered the new relay kit and put it in. It has more parts than you really need. Up and running.
