How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010385 / WP67003903 Damper Control

When searching the net for the problem your web page caught my eye with the video. After watching it I decide to order the part from Appliance parts .com. The item arrived in a couple days. I used the I Pad to review the installation and with- in ten minutes the replacement part was installed and all is well. Thanks ken 

Determined the water inlet value craked, damper control was grinding, ice maker did not work. Using AppliancePartspros was wonderful. They had all the parts for our model. Moreover their "how to place" videos were an absolute blessing. Without the videos we would have likely junked our $2000 frig. Also the parts shipped & arrived amazingly fast. For less than $190 I have everything running perfectly and I feel like we have a new frig. 

Ordered a thermistor kit. Now this thermistor was replaced on 7.20.2024. Sadly it failed in a short time. Also this unit was purchased new in 2004. A week before the 5 year compressor warranty was due to expire the compressor quit. Warranty service was done. Also for unknown reasons the repair tech decided to place a plastic wedge in the damper door to keep it at a certain opening. The temperature did fluctuate a bit but I left it as he did it. So when the thermistor failed a few weeks ago I decided to replace the damper door along with the thermistor. Easy straightforward job. Watching Simon on the repair videos helps. The same with my washer/dryer/neighbors machines. I enjoy doing the repairs. I recommend all those in need to APP. One thing I learned repairing my own appliances. The panels/covers etc mainly snap together. Use gentle force to pry the plastic. Take your time. ohh, pricing is very fair on OEM parts. I learned the hard way . Buy OEM parts if you intend to keep the machine. 

Watched video, ordered part, problem solved. Simple plug and play repair. Took the opportunity to vacuum coils and remove ice from freezer section. 15-year-old appliance still running great! 

Ordered a new damper control. Paid extra to get it the next day. Part was on-time, exact fit, easy fix, especially after watching a video on the website. Fridge works great! 

Removed the panel from where cold air from the freezer enters the refrigerator and saw the door was not opening properly. I could press it and get it to open but as soon as the refrigerator reached temperature it would close and not reopen on its own. Installing the new diffuser was easy. I watched the posted video to confirm what I was doing. It took 15-20 minutes and works great. Probably saved me $500-$600. 

Ordered a damper control assembly and watched video on how to fix. Took about 10 minutes to fix and saved $100 on the service call to an appliance repair person. 

I purchased a replacement damper controller and thermistor kit. After watching the installation videos on the website, I was able to replace those components and the refrigerator is cooling consistently again. 

Replaced damper. This was a very easy repair! The old damper motor still worked, but the teeth on the damper control cam were worn and skipped and occasionally got stuck. 

While trying to check the damper door, I pulled the cover off, and the damper started to open, making a grinding noise that I always thought was the ice maker. Ordered a new damper, shipping was extremely quick. 1 screwdriver, 2 screws.....fridge nice and cold now
