How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010385 / WP67003903 Damper Control

The repair was simple. Pull off the plastic vent cover, take out two screws, pull off the foam insulation, unsnap the unit, unplug the wires, the reverse the procedure. It took five minutes. 

Replaced the damper control to refrigerator. it was real easy. 

The refrigerator was warm but the freezer was cold. Turn off the refrigerator for 24 hours. Plugged the refrigerator back in, the compressor was not kicking on but the condenser fan and evaporator fan were running. Pulled start relay, measured between two bottom points found Open.. replaced start relay and capacitor and compressor stared immediately and everything worked normally. 

Remove access cover, remove 2 screws, remove cover and foam, unsnap damper control, transfer wiring harness, reverse order 

After deciding that the damper control was at fault and needed to be replaced, I looked up the part on AppliancePartsPros.com, watched the video which was very helpful and ordered a new damper control. Delivery was quick, FedEx delivered on Saturday. My wife held the flashlight (unplugged refrigerator as video said) and the removal and installation went just like the video. Only took a few minutes, so we didn't have to unload the food. I have a max-min thermometer and the temperature is holding closer to the set point than it did before. Wife is happy and the beer is cold! 

Easy as pie, two Screws out disconnect three plugs and replace part, works perfectly now?? 

Replaced the damper.

First time; I replaced the very expensive thermostat, only to learn the damper was the problem which froze most of the fruits and vegetables in my refrigerator.
