How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013143 / WP8546219 Control Board

We ordered a new Control Board from AppliancePartsPros. And got it the next day. It was shipped fast.The packing was top notch. I had already watch a vidieo on there site on how to install,so we had everything ready to go in. I unpacked it and had it installed in about 20 minutes.Went downstairs and flipped the breaker back on and back up to turn on dryer. Everything worked perfect. We will be using this company in the future. This is a great company. 

Tested the thermal fuse. It was fine. Based on research, figured it was the control board. My local supplier had a no return policy if it didn't work. I ordered through Appliancepartspros since they offered a no questions asked return for the next 365 days. The repair was a breeze following the instruction video and the dryer is back operating again. 

Because it was a stacked unit, I needed a short 3 step ladder to reach the control panel and to remove the top. Pretty simple. Not to sound sexist, but even this female could do it without much hassle. Watching the "how to" video helps tremendously, since I know nothing about dryers! Thanks, Matt, for making this a DIY effort. My only misstep was initially ordering the control board instead of the interface electronic board that operates the keypad. So, returned the unused part and got the right one.......easy peasy. Since my original estimate for this repair from a company was $495, I spent $212 for the part, my own labor and a diagnostic which was incorrect, since they told me I needed a control board :( But even so, came out way ahead. Thanks for this savings and your "how to" videos with Matt, the repair guru. Gave me the incentive to DIY this repair. 

Talked with parts pro-tech about 5 min, ordered the part. Took about 15 min to change the part out. Dryer worked normally. Easy fix. 

Watched appliance pros on you tube and started with the electronic panel. The electronic panel board was burned out within 30 minutes of receiving my part, my boyfriend had my dryer running perfectly. It is a 13 year old machine. Saved me hundreds of dollars for another rainy day. 

First replaced the control board as it appeared to have a fault. The problem remained. I then got on the website again, researched, and talked with the service people. We decided it was the user interface and I then replaced that yesterday with a perfect fix. Easy changeout. Might be helpful to have a YouTube video for the interface but found the service manual online. Really very simple to do both. The control board does have a video and it was perfect. All you need is two hands and a 1/4" nut driver. Piece of cake! 

I followed the instructions in the tech sheet and decided the control board needed to be replaced. I was able to quickly and easily find the replacement on appliancepartspros.com. The part arrived early and was exactly as described on the website. The installation was very quick and easy - I probably didn't need it, but I still appreciated having the video available on appliancepartspros.com. I've ordered parts from this website several times and have always had very positive experiences! 

Put a new control board and wire harness on because the wire harness and control board melted, now the dryer works perfect. 

I had a repair person come out to look at the dryer, hoping he could fix it on the spot if it was a simple problem like a thermal fuse. He diagnosed a blown control board and when he checked on the price of the part he quoted me 400$ for part and labor. Since he had already diagnosed the problem I felt comfortable ordering the part itself, which was quite expensive, and doing it myself from there. The dryer is 8 years old and otherwise in good shape, and I hated to replace it. I you-tubed the installation, which looked easy, and then googled the part number. That's how I ended up with Appliance parts Pro. The part arrived quickly, and after an initial hiccup with the installation I called their customer support. They offered to send me a new part if I desired. In he end I found I had not reconnected all of the inputs to the board and it then worked perfectly. I was very Eased with the service.
