How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010911 / WP74005745 Control Panel Assembly (Blk)

After doing a short search on internet I came across appliance parts and tech informed me that the key pad is shorted or the ribbon cable is damaged. This is a known issue that is usually caused by heat. My appliance has been in service for 7 years. Only thing is you can't just purchase the key pad. You have to get the complete front panel with keypad. Appliance parts pros got me back up and going in 2 days. Thanks for the quick fix and quick delivery. I don't know if it is advisable but I took the keypad from the new panel which is attached by a tacky adhesive. If carefully removed will save you the time of transferring all components to the new panel with keypad. 

Replaced the touch pad control panel assembly. Works fine now. Your part verification system worked well. When I checked to see if the initial part recommended was compatible with model it called out a different part. Your system identified the correct part. Thanks 

Replaced front panel but it took a week of trying every which way, and a lot of magic words. 

Replaced the control panel assembly that included the touch sensor. 

I ordered the part Tuesday evening, it arrived Wednesday morning! now that is fast... Replaced the front panel, easy job, took about 20 minutes, works as advertised. If anyone is doing this repair, disconnect the circuit board via the inline connectors, about 8 inches from the board, rather than at the board, it is much easier and only 5 connectors. 

I ordered a new keypad and installed it. This is a two person job only because you will need someone to hold the old unit while you disassemble certain parts and hold the new unit as you reinstall them. With two people, it probably would have taken me 45 minutes to an hour to complete the repair. I estimate that I saved between $300 and $350 by doing it myself. 

Nging out the hinges and springs I noticed the stove door was not closing completely. After I installed the new hinges and springs the door shuts completely. I am sure this is why the first fix did not last over 3 years.
