For Whirlpool Control Panel Assembly (Blk) (Part Number: OEM18032742)

1 Answer

Jim, With the broil element staying on all the time, this would be a stuck relay on the control board.

Karen, The control panel has a ribbon harness that goes from the touchpad to the control board. The control board is a separate part but the control panel does come with the harness.

Broiler will not turn off. I removed the element, taped up the element wiring to use the stove top. This has happened before and I tripped the breaker for around 30 min and the stove was operating normal and lasted for a few months but this time I had to remove the boiler element. We live less than a mile from the ocean in Florida and within the blogs posted I noticed that corrosion in the connectors could have something to do with this problem. Any Ideas?

1 Answer

Hello Jim, This is most likely a sticking relay on the control board/clock. For a more detailed diagnosis, please re-post with the model number and the first two characters of the serial number from the units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Six months ago I had a tech come out to look at my stove because when my wife made a cake it looked good when it came out of the oven. After sitting to cool down the cake flopped and was raw in the center. I had a tech. Come out he said that the door hinges and the door gasket needed to be replaced, which I did. About six months ago I replaced the temp. Sensor. Everything seams to work fine except the cakes still flop. Do you thing the sensor or the controller are bad?

1 Answer

Hello Frank. It sounds more like the control since the sensor is new. Test the temp inside the oven. Add the top and bottom numbers of the temp inside the oven by monitoring it for 10 minutes after preheat. Add those and divide by 2 and it should be close to the setting on the control. If not, the board is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Greg, Fault code F1-7 indicates that the membrane is disconnected. I would clean the ribbon cable connections before ordering parts. Rub the electrical traces on the ribbon cable with a dry eraser toward the end of the cable only, (this is to prevent damage to the ribbon cable). If this corrects the issue, no part was needed. If not, replace the control board 74007225 for series 17 and lower OR WP74009317 for series 18 and higher.

Steve, You would want to pull the control panel off and check for corrosion on the ribbon harness that goes from control panel WP74005745 to the clock assembly. If there is corrosion you will want to clean with an electronic cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Plug back in and try unit. If still not working then you would need a new control panel.

Mark for Model Number JES9750AAb

I have parts from your site several times before, this is my first time asking a question. Our Jenn-Aire Model JES9750AAB Serial #14603259AC Range top Oven is throwing Code F1-7. Some of the numbers on the touch pad stopped working a few months ago. I have tried turning the breaker off and waiting for a half hour then turning it back on. It just beeps constantly and flashes F1-7. The display is bright and the clock keeps time. From what I have read it sounds like we need a control panel...What do you think? Thanks in Advance!

1 Answer

Hello Mark. Yes, based on the code and the information you provided, it sounds like the control panel WP74005745 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
