Tom B Bayfield , CO November 13, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Dishwasher MDBH970AWB The maytag dishwasher would not drain about one inch of dirty water was left in the bottom of the dishwasher after the complete cycle was finished I turned off the breaker to the unit. Then I used a towel to soak up the water in the bottom of the dishwasher. Then disconnected the dishwasher from the cabinet.(two wood screws). I then pulled out the dishwasher where I could lay beside it. I checked both ends of the drain hose for trash blockages at the pump and at the garbage disposal end. I blew through it and there were no blockages. That meant that the pump was probably shot. I then removed the water pump. First I disconnected the small black and white wired electrical fitting to the pump. Then I disconnected the drain pump with one torque headed bolt. The pump then simply drops out from under the dishwasher. I ordered a new pump and received it in a prompt manner. I put a small amount of lube around the o-ring on the new pump, pushed it up into the hole that it came out of, reconnected the plastic electrical fitting(with the black and white wires) then pivoted the pump around until the torque bolt aligned with the galvanized bracket with threaded hole for the torque bolt. Then I reversed the rest of the process. Thats it, it worked. Read More... 19 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers

Richard D Middleburg , FL December 07, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Dishwasher MDB8600AWW Water was not draining all the way I had to pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet and tip it back to access the pump. The pump was held in place by a single T20 Torx fastener. Once that, the drain hose, and the electrical connector were removed, the pump came out with a 1/4 turn twist. I had to swap the retaining bracket over to the new pump. Installation was reverse of the previous steps. I reinstalled the dishwasher into the cabinet and ran a rinse cycle to test for leaks and make sure it was draining all the way. Everything checked out good. Nathan S Excelsior , MN October 27, 2021 Discharge pump stopped working. Quick shipping, I must have ordered the wrong assembly, but it wasn’t a big problem because the pump is held onto the half that has the connection to washer and hose with 3 T15 fasteners. I split that and found a thin piece of plastic caught in the impeller (maybe a pull ring from a liquid container) I had the new piece in so I installed it and it was up & running in less than an hour.
