How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008708 / WP354987 Dryer Idler Shaft Retaining Ring

Replaced both drum rollers and axles along with the belt an belt tension pulley. 

Replaced most of the moving parts with new from AppliancePartsPros.com. Squirrel cage, rollers, pins, bearings. Sounds like new now. 

So our ancient Maytag had been squealing for months. I finally pulled the front and found the idler pulley frozen and cut nearly in two by the belt. I also noted that one of the support rollers was displaced on its shaft. As I was scheduled to leave in two days for a month long out of town work trip time was at a premium. I considered running to the Maytag parts place in the next town but past experience demonstrated that they would probably not have everything I needed. I was able to order all of the parts from Appliance Parts Pros, pay for next day delivery and get the dryer fixed without wasting time running all over God's green earth. Takeaways - 1) Always check all of the wear parts when servicing an appliance - I changed the front bearings two years ago and never checked the idler or drum rollers - too lazy to spend 5 minutes to pull the drum. 2) In-stock parts and overnight delivery are true economy. Although my Scotch ancestors would cringe at the overnight fee it saved me hours of running around and I knew immediately that everything was in stock and would be delivered. 3) Job done for less than the service call fee for a typical appliance repairman. 

Order the parts from you and watched the video. Everything was as advertised except you left two screws that needed to come out. Otherwise all was well and great job. Thanks Guys. 

The repair took a few minutes, I was familiar with the inside of my dryer because last month the drum rollers needed replacing. Thanks to your repair videos and ease of ordering and accurate part delivery everything was really simple. The parts arrived in two days as promised, Thanks! 

I replaced the Idler pulley set. 

Saw exactly which parts were needed in the exploded diagram of my dryer. Ordered, received and installed them within days! I thank my brother in law for telling me about AppliancePartsPros.com!

Replaced all idler and drum rollers along with belt. Took about 2 hours but 1 hour of that was cleaning all parts. Even took off the front of the fan to get inside it and exhaust. Works fine after repairs. I did not order spring clips for the drum rollers but wished I had. 

Replaced belt tension pulley & arm. Opted for new belt too.
