How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6018065 / WPW10259865 8 Inch Large Surface Element

I replaced both the control and burner not knowing if the burner caused the problem or was damaged by the controller. Everything working great. It took less than 15minutes to do the whole job. 

I ordered a new burner. It came very fast. The service is great. 

Easy repair! I simply ordered a new burner and replaced the old one. My local hardware store did not have the part, so I ordered online. Purchase was easy, delivery was super fast! 

Replaced switch and they replaced burner. VERY easy to do with wire cutters, screw driver and a lighter. Watch the video on the Surface Burner Receptacle page - 100% accurate and exactly what you'll need to do to install. 

A direct replacement burner was ordered, received as promised, and installed to fix the problem. The burner is made by Whirlpool (also makes KitchenAid) and was found to be an exact replacement except for a tab mounted near the contacts end of the burner. The tab is to limit the insertion depth of the burner contacts into the female contacts. By bending the tab to allow for a greater insertion depth, the burner fits perfectly. DIY'ers beware.

I ordered the element which was broken, plus four new drip pans that were actually made for this model range. Replacing the drip pans was easy, and so was plugging in the new element. Presto! The range looks new and cooks great! 

The new element fit perfectly--just in time for Thanksgiving. 

Moved into a new home and the stove was missing one burner, and the drip pans needed replacing badly.
