How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006176 / WP2198633 Emitter Cover

Replaced complete unit from appliance pros 

Replaced the ice maker itself; only 3 nuts; video most helpful; also replaced icemaker cover and mounting bracket which I broke when installing icemaker ( did not listen to warning in training video) as well as the emitter cover----just heed the warnings in the training video and it will go of without a hitch, 

The part fell off and I was able to tape it on until I found the part. When I went to the ApplianceParts Pros.com website, I found the exact part with a picture and I realized what was wrong with the old part and that helped me install the new part. The part arrived in about 3 days and I was surprised at the speed of delivery and it was a factory part. Any problems in the future that I think I can fix will definitely have me going back to this website. 

Unscrewed the emitter assembly from the freezer. Unplugged the electrical connector from the rear of the emitter. Removed hinge pin retainer and hinge pin. Placed flipper spring in position and set new flipper in place. Reinserted hinge pin and pushed retainer back on end of hinge pin. Confirmed proper operation by pushing and releasing flipper. Reconnected electrical connector and placed assembly back in the freezer wall opening. Replaced mounting screws.
