How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007565 / WP307178 Heater Assembly

I believe my problem was the high limit thermostat, but I did not catch in in time so it eventually burned up my heating element. If your clothes are too hot to touch coming out of the dryer, replace your hi-limit thermostat before you have to replace a much more expensive heater element. 

Changed it out, got a new one. 

Replace heating element 

Replaced old heating element with new one. 

Remove and reinstall new piece. 

Ordered a new heater from appliancepartspro.com. watched the repair video they have online. Took out the old heater, put in the new heater. Dryer works as good as new. Thank you for the great help. 

I replaced the dryer assembly and the heat was back on. I forgot to take a thermostat off the old assembly and install it on the new one before I put the entire dryer back together. This made it more difficult than it needed to be. It was a breeze other than that. The product was shipped the same night I ordered and was here in a day and a half. I will use this company again if needed. 

Since I didn't disassemble it, it was helpful to watch the video to see the steps. I just opened the box with the new part and swapped the parts as the video suggested. There were some screws missing which I pirated from the old unit and soon it was back together with the new heater tube. It was really pretty easy. I was pleased with the result the dryer runs fine now. New ones cost in the neighborhood of $900. That means a $750 savings. Besides, the older units were better built. 

I replaced the heater assembly. A pretty simple job after reviewing an on line video. Reinstalling the tiny screws is a little challenging. I replaced one tiny screw in the rear of the assembly with a slightly longer one to get it started 

Bought the element unit and replaced it with new one.
