How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3134638 / 279457 Heating Element Connecting Wire

My husband and son did the repairs. Replaced belt, tension pulley, heat element & thermal fuse. How to videos on website are very helpful. Dryer is heating in drying and working great. Thank you!! 

After the replacement of both sensors dryer cycle and the temperature sensor showed some improvement but not enough. I replaced the door switch because the tip on the switch broke, plus a dryer belt and tensioner after replacing the other parts and the dryer is 30 plus years old. I came to the conclusion to replace the dryer push-to-start switch and the heating element. The switch was OK but sooner rather than later it was to go bad. Also listed as a possible cause of the dryer not shutting off--- the heating element. So far so good. thank you John Barnett 

I am beyond grateful for AppliancePartsPros.com. I’m a 29-year-old mom of three, so time isn’t exactly something I have a lot of. With the help of AppliancePartsPros.com, I fixed my dryer in 30-45 minutes by myself! I replaced the heating element and the thermostat shut off. All I needed was a screwdriver and I was good to go. What took the longest was just unscrewing the back of the dryer. The videos were a lifesaver. Very thankful. 

New timer. Note that the model number suggests the dryer is part of a laundry center. I don’t know if that means a one unit combo washer/dryer or not. However, this is a stand alone Maytag dryer. 

I purchased a heating element and once installed it started working again. 

Replaced the heating unit and the thermal fuse. Ordered parts from AppliancePartsPros.com. Got them in just a few days. Watched their “how to” videos and it was a piece of cake! 

Tested continuity of other related parts, Ordered the Dryer Heating Element on old Sears Kenmore- Whirlpool 

Replaced element. 

I replaced the heating element . But since I was taking the machine apart I replaced all of the wareable parts so the dryer will last another 10 years. 

Our dryer is over 15 years old. Over time, the heat level has dropped, but it continued to work with enough time and airflow. Finally, the heat stopped. I tried the lowest cost repair option - a new heater element and a couple of other parts since I was going to have it opened up. Bottom line is that it worked. Access was easy from the front of the machine. Once I opened it up, I was amazed at the amount of lint in there. I should have opened it up years ago and vacuumed it out. Once clean, parts popped in and out easily. Just need a 1/4" ratchet set, #1 and #2 screwdrivers, and plyers came in handy to pull the wires off the terminals.
