How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008640 / WP35-2044 Lid Hinge

Replaced both pins & hinges. FYI have new screws ready as well. 

Contacted the appliance parts pros, found the parts needed, watched the repair video and installed the parts 

Popped and propped open the top of my washer. Removed the old hinge and replaced with a shiny new one! Easy peasy. 

Order in replaced drain pump and top load door hinge.

I watched your excellent repair video twice. It was a 5 minute job, so easy to do. 

Following the video, I replaced the snubber and now it is quiet and has almost no vibration while spinning. 

I previously replaced the 6 springs on the tub. I replaced the 'snubber' ring. I replace the drive belt. But the problem was the same. So this time, I replaced the auto adjusting rear feet. I replaced the stationary front feet. Yet, the problem remained. My neighbor repairs manufactured homes. He said the floor where the washer sits, needs to be structurally strengthened. He said the washer is not the problem, it is fine. He told me to move the washer outside, to my concrete patio, and wash a load of clothes. I did. And the washer ran like it was brand new. Not even the slightest bit of shaking. My neighbor is going to help me structurally reinforce the floor in my manufactured home, where the washer sits. The washer is 20 years old. I do believe it was correct of me to replace the parts that I did. I think the 'climate change, energy efficient' washers of 2022 are awful. I hear their expensive 'computer circuit boards' die after a year. Happy washing. 

I knew the hinges were broken on my washer lid, but I wasn’t sure exactly how to fix them. Fortunately, I found a quick video on the AppliancePartsPros.com website that showed me the exact parts (hinges and pins) that I needed to fix and how to replace the parts. I didn’t remember the video specifying the need for a star bit for the screws but I had one on hand. Maybe the newer washing machines use a Phillips screwdriver. I was surprised that new screws didn’t come with the hinges and pins (maybe different washers use different size screws). My washer is 23 years old so the screws are getting rusted. Ordered the pins and hinges. I did a search on appliancepartspros and found what I needed. I searched for and watched a YouTube video on how to change the hinges. The video said Phillips screwdriver and putty knife but I just used a standard silverware knife. Super super easy do it yourself fix. The washer of that era is simple to fix. Took me less than 5 min.
