How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008640 / WP35-2044 Lid Hinge

Bought new hinges. 

Replaced both lid hinges and lid hinge pins. 

I used a putty knife to loosen the top part of the washer, pivoted it up and used a screwdriver to unscrew the hinge and hinge pin. It was easier with someone holding the top while I screwed everything back together. The lid works fine now. AppliancePartsPros video on Youtube is a must see if you want to do this in a few minutes or don't see it if you want this to be an ordeal. The trick is to loosen the top part that pivots up. 

Ordered one new female hinge & repaired 2 male hinge pins. (drilled out broken pins on male parts & put in Delrin dowels). NOTE! I have a lathe. Repaired part STRONGER THAN ORIGINAL! 

Ordered parts from appliance parts pros and replaced broken parts. 

Simple task. Just a little mechanical ability. For some, the hardest part is in raising the complete lid assembly if you don't know where to compress the spring retaining clips. 

Went very well after watching your video on You Tube. 

Had previously repaired with non-original parts. New genuine Whirlpool parts are a perfect fit and the repair video made it simple.
