How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011872 / WP8183202 Washer Door Hinge

Five minutes 

Easily ordered part. Watched quick installation video. Replaced it in 10 minutes. Piece of cake! Appliance Parts Pros is where I always order parts. 

I removed 2 screws that connected door hinge to washer. I laid door on floor. I unscrewed 8 torx screws and was able to separate enough to to pull old hinge out and replace with new hinge. I tightened all torx screws in door and then I hung door on washer and screwed in the final 2 torx screws fastening door to washer. 

Ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros. It was shipped the same day and arrived by FedEx about 3 days later. Excellent and fast service. Our local appliance dealer installed it. Could have been installed by anyone knowing how to use tools and having them.

Quick you tube tutorial, took 15-20 minutes to remove and replace hinge. Very simple task using only a 6 point socket and speed handle 

I tried 2 other vendors. The first vendor, I waited over 6 months for them to ship it. I kept getting new ship dates. Those dates would come and go without any notification so I finally cancelled the order. I then ordered it from Amazon, it too never shipped. I tried this site because they had shipped another part to me a few weeks earlier and the part shipped right out! The repair too like 5 minutes. I removed the door with the old hinge still attached by removing 2 - 1/4" screws on the washer. The hinge hooks onto the washer so you lift up then out and it will come right off. I then took the 4 torx bit (T20 I believe) screws out of the door, plus loosened a few others around the plastic rim so that hinge would come off. I slipped the new one in and replaced all the screws. Done! Can't believe I lived with a broken one for so long.
