How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP4359694 / W10190935 Ice Maker Control Module

I assumed (correctly) that the ice flipping mechanism was okay, and the problem was in the timer module - which had a manufacturer's part number on it. The entire ice maker cost about twice what the price of the timer assembly so I figured I'd take a chance. I ordered the part which came quickly, replaced it (easy - three screws) and the unit is now working properly. The only 'problem' I had was that the water level adjustment control was not identified nor was there an adjustment guide included for making adjustments. This situation was cleared up with a call to your customer service people who looked up and told me what the adjustment procedure was. I was very impressed by the technical understanding of the customer service people and, what appeared to be, a sincere interest in helping me solve my problem. 

Traced the problem down to the control module, went on line found the right one and ordered it. received it in 2 days. with the help of the Video I was able to install it in about 10 minuets. About hour later the ice maker was producing ice. Thanks applianceparts pros.com. 

First I replaced the dual water inlet valve on the bottom rear. That did not solve the problem even though it was listed as the most probable cause of the problem. I then replaced the control module & motor assembly. That fixed the problem! The videos are excellent but not exact for all models. For example, on my appliance: 1) the water lines are different diameters so they can not be switched at the inlet valve for further checking & 2) the electrical connection to the ice maker is not removable from the freezer wall but must be disconnected from the icemaker itself .A TIP: while waiting for the control module to arrive, I removed the ice maker, cleaned it, & put it in the freezer so it would already be very cold when I replaced the module. This saved many hours of waiting for it to chill & start functioning,.I had my first 'ice dump' in less than 3 hours. You have a great web site! 

Replaced control module. Easy, 15 minute fix which solved the problem. 

I ordered a new ice maker control module. The old module had a corroded brass contact that was not allowing the heating element to do its job. Instead of soldering the contact back together I just replaced the module. 

Replaced the Ice Maker Control Module to get the motor working. Replace the Water Inlet Valve to get the water to start re-entering the ice maker. Actual repair of both took about 40 minutes. But since the ice maker hasn't been used in over a year, it took 2+ hours for the first water to cycle into the ice maker. Would have been nice if the information about the possible 2 hr wait would have been on the instructions. This is the only reason this process received a 4 star versus a 5 star. Use flash light to observe as the water level rises in the tube running from inlet valve up the back of the refrigerator to ice maker. Everytime you hear the inlet valve kick in, it should rise. You'll are probably already aware of this but make sure the ice maker arm is in the on position. 

After probing the terminals, L and N on controller , confirmed unit had 120VAC, next using a jumper wire, about 14 awg short pc of insulated wire, jumper T and L to try to initiate a ice sequence. Motor dial slowly spun, and then stopped, so most likely was the Ice Maker Control Module, replacing it was very easy, did not have to remove entire ice maker assembly, and after 2 hrs , ice started to form. Make SURE you unplug the unit before you do anything mentioned above!

Ordered part around 3:00 pm and it arrived at my front door the next day around 1:pm. Removed the ice maker, replaced the part and re-installed the ice maker. Total time was about 30 minutes. Had ice again within an hour. Was a simple procedure after watching the video. The site also helped me narrow down why my ice maker was not functioning. I also felt confident that if the problem wasn't resolved I could return the part and order what they thought might be the next most likely problem... 

I searched on line for ice maker problems and found a YouTube video on how to test the control unit and that article had a link to AppliancePartsPros.com. I tested he ice maker and found the control unit was bad. I went to AppliancePartsPros.com, put in my refrigerator model number and it took me to the right list that had a great video on how to exactly replace the control module. It took me all of 15 minutes from start to finish. Exactly like the instruction video on AppliancePartsPros.com. Saved me a bundle not having to call a service repair company
