How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP7244933 / W11729596 Ice Maker Field Install Kit (Tm, Sxs)

The icemaker had not worked since we moved in. I checked online and tested the resistance values as suggested in one Youtube video and they indicated that the control panel and or valve had failed. So I ordered the whole kit. It arrived super fast. I first installed he new valve (less than 5 mins) tightened the connections, turned water on and in 15 seconds water began flowing. Ice is now being made and I have a spare controller and ice tray. Very pleased. 

Looked on internet for ice maker, selected AppliancePartspros.com. They checked for ice maker I needed, AND SHIPPED IT IMMEDIATELY. Very easy to install since my former frig also had an ice maker. I highly recommend them. The ice maker is working really good. 

Very easily and without the help of my husband. Only needed the ice maker portion of the kit which made this project extremely simple. 

I bought the replacement fan and blade from Parts pro, along with a new ice maker. Figured the evap fan motor was failing with all the noise it was making. Nope. Once I took the cover off and examined the situation, realized all I had to do was push the existing fan blade back on the shaft, away from the fan motor, and problem fixed. So I didn't need the parts after all. Still used the ice maker, but cost $14.95 to return the fan motor and blade. That was all unnecessary. Oh well, live and learn. All nice and quiet again. You should try this first b4 you order any replacement parts.

Ordered ice machine and installed it. 

I watched the video on APPros site. My timer looked the same phsically, and the wiring harnesses were the same as video. But my knob did not come off like the one in the video. IO ended up breaking up the old timer with a pair of pliers. Looking at the video and the new timer i knew i was not damaging the knob. When I finally got it completely apart it was easy to see that I should have popped off the knob escutcheon, and then pull the plastic pin to disengage the knob from the switch. From that point the repair was 15 minutes and easy. 

Now this is almost totally unbelievable. I ordered a new ice maker from AppliancePartsPros.com on Friday, February 26th @ 3:46pm and it was delivered on Saturday the 27th of February @ 9:30am and it came from Louisville, KY. and I live in Northwood, OH. Now that in itself was and still is unbelievable not to mention just how easy this job was! I watched the video on how to change out the ice maker and it actually took me less then 5 minutes total!! This was the easiest and fastest job I have ever done!! Now, I just can't believe that I put this off for over a year and a half thinking that it was just going to be a big mess and hassle. I attempted to repair the ice maker but to no avail. In turn I ordered a new one from appliance psrts pro. Great service and they had the part in stock. 

I bought another icemaker kit and replaced the existing unit. The job took about 15 min.
