How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6026347 / W10873791 Ice Maker Assembly

I watched the video demonstrating how to remove and replace the ice make in my freezer. It was very clear showing step-by-step how to remove and then re-install the ice maker. It only took me 13 minutes from the time I shut off the breaker to the time I turned the breaker back on to replace the ice maker, an that included a two minute search for one of the screws I dropped! This repair could not have been easier. I now have ice through the door again. I am very happy. 

It installed easily. I would think most people could do this job. Now it works like new. I'm a happy boy.

I inspected the ice maker and discovered the tray was broken so that some water leaked each time it was filled. I ordered a replacement ice maker from AppliancePartsPros. It arrived a day earlier than expected. I installed it. I spoke with an AppliancePartsPros technician to confirm the replacement part was an acceptable substitute (the part number was different from the original and my ice maker didn't have a light to move over as the instructional video suggested). The part was appropriate for my application and the ice maker is functioning normally. Thank-you! 

Turned off circuit to fridge, open freezer door. Removed the ice tray. removed four screws holding panel in place, removed panel while disconnecting the cable connector. Removed two hex screws and removed the ice maker. Reversed the procedure to replace. 

I watched a video on AppliancePartsPros.com and was able to disassenble the outer casing. I saw what the problem was (the tray was filling but not dumping out. Then more water was pouring onto the formed ice and freezing). I ordered the part I needed and watched the video again. The video was VERY well produced and told me exactly what to do. I replaced the part, put everything back together. It works beautifully now! 

I purchased a replacement icemaker. It took about 5 to 10 min.

Replaced the ice maker assembly. The video provided on the website was very helpful. It did take a few hours after replacing before it started working properly. I thought initially this didn't solve my problem, but now working great.
