How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6030643 / W10884390 Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly

I replaced it with an OEM icemaker 

Replace ice maker 

Replaced the icemaker. Installation is easy for a person who can squat, kneel and maneuver. I now have ice. It is rough for an 80-year-old man. After a painful endeavor, I now have ice. 

2 years ago I had appliance repair out to fix ice maker and they "replaced" the motor. Never worked. So I replaced the whole ice maker my self with a new one ordered form Appliance Parts Pros and install was not complicated. Now, lots of lovely ice!! Parts came within 48 hours, supper fast delivery and are working great!

I went to YouTube and checked on how to remove the racks and door. Also did some ice maker removing and installing a new one. In the long run the removing of some parts of inside was not needed but turned out to be help full. Wish there were more directions with the new Ice Maker. Replaced the total ice maker and it is working beautiful now. 

Simple fix but time consuming to remove top rack and outside freezer door. Screwdrivers were not sufficient to remove rack or door. Needed socket set or nut driver. I did not have the latter. Online videos invaluable. 

I replaced the entire ice maker. The replacement part was an exact match, which was great. The repair was harder than indicated online and in all reference materials because the available information was not accurate. The ice maker mounts to a bracket (not mentioned in videos and other instructions) that needs to be removed. It's very hard to change without removing the drawer.
