How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP7185516 / W11577195 Icemaker

I was able to find a YouTube video that showed how to replace the ice maker. It didn't appear too complicated so I ordered the part from my favorite site AppliancePartsPros.com. Like always I quickly received the replacement and was able to make the repair in about 45 minutes. Pretty easy and now we have ice again! Love this site! 

Replaced the ice maker with a new one. I found a great YouTube video on how to replace one on a very similar model. It was excellent and showed the entire process. Without that YouTube video, I would not know how to remove the panels on the ceiling of the fridge. I felt very good about being able to perform this task without having to pay for service. I would definitely recommend doing it yourself it you can find a YouTube for your make/model. 

I searched it up in Youtube. It walked me through the error codes to view and test. Determined it was the motor of the ice make assembly. I searched for the part on the internet. And found this site. I checked to see if it was a scam / legitimate. It had good reviews. I received the part in two days. Followed the Youtube video. and Bob's your uncle! I was worried at first. It took a night to start getting ice. Now, all is well. 

Used technician sheet under hinge cover to determine the unit could be ran through various tests. Got an error related to the ice maker motor not returning to home position. Ordered replacement ice maker and installed. Seems to be working great so far.

After finding the diagnostic code sheet hidden in the top right hinge cover of the fridge, I was able to run the diagnostic tests to confirm what was wrong and also what was working fine. Then I narrowed it to the heater in the ice maker and that required the ice maker assy, which I purchased. Once that showed up, I installed it and filled it using the proper code and we were back in working ice maker! 

Replaced the ice maker. If you replace yours, it won’t work immediately. You can run the diagnostic test and you’ll receive the E01 error. It takes 3 hours for the ice maker to clear the code and begin working. It’s been two days and it’s working great! 

Replaced ice maker assy. Made ice two times and quit. The next day it made ice once. So suspect water flow issue. I ordered ice/water valve assy which is even easier to change out----- but do not forget to turn off the water supply as a first step.
