How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007826 / WP31940001 Oven Bake Igniter

First I had no idea what the problem was. Until I picked up the appliance repair business card at my home depot store and when on line to talked to the online tech in the chat room. This person was so accurate on what I needed, it was almost like he knew my stove or had one just like it. The part was a simple as the heating element. It arrived the next day about 9:00 AM. I only paid ground shipping charges. My wife and I were floored it came so quick. Viewed the video and was installed in about 15 minutes and I am a clutts. I priced the part at the appliance store and the price was double. We didn't have to wait to make a date with the repair shop. If I can do it anyone one can 

I ordered the igniter and replaced it. It works perfectly now. 

The Amana stove is 17 years old but in very good shape. I had previously bought a gasket kit from ApplianceParts for our refrigerator so I got on the web site to see what I could find out about the stove. It Indiicated that the problem was probably faulty ignitrers. Ordered the parts. Installed all three in about 45 minutes. Stove is now working just fine. 

I replaced the oven igniter following the video instruction, simple repair. 15 minutes tops.

The most likely cause for the oven not to light is a weak igniter. I thought at first it was alright because it did glow red, Apparently it didn't draw enough current to allow the safety valve to open. The new igniter fixed it - 3 screws and a plug-in connector - all done. The stove top igniter was a little tougher. the burners were attached by screws and the screws were badly corroded. I had to drill them out. Also, the igniter was held to the bottom of the burner with a badly corroded screw. That screw had to be drilled out and replaced as well. Once the new igniter was in place, the burner lights as it should. It was easy to get the right parts by providing the make and model of the stove. The price was right, too. 

I ordered a replacement igniter module from AppliancePartsPros.com and replaced the old module. The replacement took less the 15 minutes from start to finish. This was the second time that I have replaced this module over a 25 year period. Looking back over those years and the amount of use the oven has had, I don't consider this unusual. The best part about the purchase from AppliancePartsPros.com was the speed in which I received the order. It only took two days to get my part. I am also grateful for the excellent assistance I received from the sales representative when I called to make sure I was ordering the right replacement part. 

Bought a new oven igniter. It came with the correct connector on wiring so I didn't have to cut wires and use the ceramic wire nuts I had bought as a backup. Had to take the bottom drawer out to get to the connector. That took longer than replacing the igniter itself. Works perfectly now.
