How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011817 / WP8182634 Door Switch Assembly

The door would NOT unlock with clothes inside with any procedure. I could not unlock it. Eventually broke it by pulling too hard. Here discovered it had not drained. Purchased from APP the exact replacement door switch assembly which was I easily matched up and got it in 2 days. After installing performed the AMANA diagnostics from the owners manual to understand why it wouldn't drain. Drain pump assembly was noted as problem. Again, found the exact replacement part and ordered from APP which came in 2 days! Watched the APP help video and changed the pump. Easy job! Eureka, it all works well. APP made it easy to find, order and help install. 

Determined switch was bad due to error code and bussing noise. I ordered new switch and also door latch that was cracked. 

Our washing machine is about 20 years old, didn’t have a problem till last year, started violently shaking on final spin forced the door now won’t lock. I opened it to check internally and three suspension had cracked and snapped. Ordered app suspension and lock locking mechanism they’ve suggested. Installing was very simple thanks to their video support made everything easy. Thank you appliance parts pros! Now my washing runs like new! no shaking and spin flawlessly, very happy 

I had to remove the door which allowed access to the striker as well as the door latch switch. Both were broken and I replace them. The machine now works correctly. Reviewing other comments, the striker will hit the latch opening about 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the center of the hole and requires you to force it slightly or (better) lift lightly while closing. 

Replaced the broken door switch. I have always used this company for replacement parts and highly recommend them!

Replaced Door switch mechanism and door latch. 

Ordered the replacement door latch and watched youtube to replace. I was scared it wouldn't work but being on social security I had to try. It worked!! Thank you for your help and people's comments. Part came in a day. 

Replaced the door switch assembly and it fixed the issue. The video was very helpful since I was unfamiliar with the wire spring holding the gasket in place. The Samsung washer was slightly different than the one shown in the video since ours had an additional bracket attached to the door switch assembly which holds the wires and clips onto the assembly, but anyone who is willing to undertake repairs themselves would easily figure that out and the video was still hugely helpful and relevant.
