How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011817 / WP8182634 Door Switch Assembly

Replaced the door switch assembly.. 

Ordered a new door switch after watching a video from AppliancePartsPros.com and seeing how easy the repair was. Was told by a repair guy that last time we had an issue that if the door switch failed it would not be worth repairing because it would be so expensive. Completely wrong. Part was ~$100 and repair took less than 20 minutes. Thanks for the excellent video!

I bought the replacement door switch assembly. Had the old one out and new one in place in about 20 minutes. Fired it up, without clothes or soap, and it worked beautifully. Then, I loaded clothes and soap, and the machine threw the same code again. I took the top off the machine, traced the two blue wires to the upper control block, disconnected and reconnected the connector and the machine. Same code. Called AppliancePartsPros. Tech suggested the switch was not the problem, maybe a connector or wire issue. I then traced the other two connector sets of wires to the upper control block, disconnected and reconnected them. Fired up the machine and ran four sets of laundry, without incident. Thank you AppliancePartsPros,com! 

Followed the AppliancePartsPros online video as I Always do. Easy to follow and I was finished in 15 minutes! But when I turned on the washer it gave me the same error code! I called the pros,# and spoke with Brittany she told me I had to reset the computer and she emailed me the information!! Worked perfectly. Wish they included that information in the how-to video. I am a older woman and AppliancePartsPros has been my go-to for appliance parts for many years as I am the one in our house that repairs the appliances. From the igniter in the oven to my old top load washers dog ears, pump etc. Dryer belt, drain pump on the front loader, and now door lock switch. Thank you ! 

Watched YouTube video, ordered part, fixed as good as new in 20 min! 

I replaced it with a new Door switch assembly. 

Small black plastic push button on door had broken off. New door switch unit was simple to install from front of washer. Also realized the door seal gasket had been missing since we bought the place, so was constantly needing adjustment. So putting a clamp on fixed that problem as well. Videos online helped make the entire repair take only 15 minutes (need a T20 driver). Also, I ordered Saturday afternoon and parts came by noon on Tuesday (standard shipping was Fedex!). All in all, could not be simpler! 

I unscrewed the latch on the outside. Then peeled back the drum boot to have access to the wires on the latch. Unplug the wires. Plugged in the new latch, reattached the boot. I had to remove the retaining clamp with pliers to get it back in place and then placed the clamp back on. Tightened the screws on the latch and it worked great.
